Job description


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The Facility Installer II reports directly to the Manager of Public Facilities and takes general direction/instructions from the Lead Facility Installer. This position is responsible for maintaining all CapMetro public facilities, including installation, removal, and repair of electrical and plumbing fixtures, maintenance of facility structures including welding, two-part process painting, concrete forming, tile installation and carpentry, at bus stops, and transit centers, and rail stations.
Responsibilities
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Note: The duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
  • Assemble, install, maintain, and remove shelters and amenities to include crane operation, installing glass panels and cutting plexi-glass as required.
  • Proactively inspect and repair (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete, tile repair, welding and painting) of all facilities and structures (e.g., signs, benches, shelters, lighting and restrooms).
  • Manufacture, install, and maintain signage at bus stops and other facilities.
  • Performs preventive and restorative maintenance of public amenities, such as reconfiguration of benches.
  • Maintains public facilities to a high standard of cleanliness, requiring disposal of debris and power washing.
  • Clean walkways and grounds adjacent to buildings and ensure that rubbish, weeds and wastepaper are removed.
  • Steam cleaning and high pressure washing of equipment as needed for facility maintenance functions.
  • Maintain surrounding area of all facilities (bus stops, transit centers and transfer centers) including lawn maintenance and pest control.
  • Take initiative to resolve problems and/or present solutions with minimal instructions from Public Facilities manager or designee.
  • Maintains a safe working environment.
  • Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action and reporting safety and security concerns.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Three (3) years' experience in building/ground maintenance, painting, carpentry, welding, electrical and plumbing.
  • Welding Certification required
  • Must have a valid driver's license for the past two years-Class B/CDL preferred.
  • Driving record must not reflect more than two moving violations in the past five years; or conviction of a serious traffic violation (DWI, driving with a suspended license) in the past seven years. (Driving Safety courses that appear on a five-year driving record taken for a moving violation will be treated as moving violations and will count against applicant's record)

  • Able to operate heavy equipment, such as a forklift
  • Able to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties
  • Ability to pass an agility test, physical exam and drug screening

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed in an office and outside environment with exposure to inclement weather and adverse weather conditions. This position works with multiple project timelines as required to support business needs.
Incumbent must have the ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, balance, crawl, reach, walk, and /or travel throughout the workday. Must be able to comfortably climb up and down sixteen (16) foot ladders. Must be able to work independently without direct supervision for large portions of the work schedule. Primary work is during first shift but may require work at other times to complete workload including weekends, evening/night shifts, and holidays. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and lift eighty (80) pounds. Must be able to perform work in the field with occasional computer work while functioning in an environment with changing priorities and interruptions. This position may require work beyond forty (40) hours per week and to be available on short notice. Must be able to collect biohazard, recycled, and solid waste materials from CapMetro facilities.
