Plumbing Technician Qualifications:
  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to use tools of the trade, including but not limited to plumbing snakes, augers, drills, saws, hammers, measuring tape, levels, and screwdrivers
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Willing to work in all types of weather
  • Ability to follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Excellent math skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to handle the physical workload and perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner

Plumbing Technician Responsibilities:
  • Bid jobs for customers
  • Draft and approve contracts to perform work
  • Removing, replacing, installing, or repairing all types of plumbing fixtures such as water closets, sinks, drinking fountains, showers, kitchen, laboratory, and other heating, water, or drainage systems according to plumbing codes
  • Assemble and install valve and fittings
  • Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
  • Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
  • Dig trenches when needed
  • Haul equipment to and from the work site from the work truck
  • Take inventory and track how many materials are for each job
  • Communicate with all customers in a positive and professional manner
  • Work with customers to make recommendations on the purchase of new equipment
  • Diagnosing malfunctions, repair and maintenance of plumbing and piping systems, including clearing plugged waste lines
  • Cut, fit, fabricate, and assemble a wide variety of articles, materials, and devices, including steel, copper, brass, glass, plastic, cast iron, corrosion-resistant pip, tile, and concrete
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance meet the requirements of all applicable codes
  • Drive motor vehicle as required
  • Lead apprentices or helpers as assigned
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and sketches
  • Maintain professional appearance at all times
  • Run after hours calls as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary Description
$26 - $35 per hour
