Tier Five information

What is a Tier Five?

Tier Five jobs refer to positions that are categorized as the fifth level in a tiered job classification system, often used in technology, customer support, or other structured industries. These roles are typically the most advanced or senior technical positions within the tier structure, requiring specialized knowledge, extensive experience, and the ability to handle the most complex issues or projects. Tier Five professionals may lead teams, develop strategic solutions, and provide guidance on high-level matters. The exact responsibilities and qualifications can vary by company and industry.

What are the typical responsibilities and challenges of a Tier Five technical support professional?

In a Tier Five technical support position, you'll typically handle the most complex and escalated technical issues that require in-depth troubleshooting and specialized expertise. Responsibilities often include collaborating closely with engineering teams, developing solutions for rare or new problems, and occasionally creating documentation for future reference. One common challenge is managing high-pressure situations where quick and accurate resolutions are expected, often with limited precedent to guide you. Professionals in this role must be comfortable navigating ambiguity, learning new technologies rapidly, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Tier Five customer support representative?

To thrive as a Tier Five Customer Support Representative, you need advanced troubleshooting skills, deep product knowledge, and typically a background in IT or related certifications. Familiarity with CRM systems, ticketing platforms, and remote diagnostic tools is essential for efficient issue resolution. Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving abilities help build trust and deliver effective support to users. These skills are crucial for resolving complex technical issues quickly and ensuring high customer satisfaction.

In this role, you will drive operational excellence across our risk management functions-optimizing property and casualty programs, streamlining contractual risk reviews, and managing end-to-end claims oversight. You will leverage data-driven insights to proactively surface operational exposures, design scalable mitigation strategies, and refine everyday risk workflows to support standard business growth.

Reporting to the Senior Insurance Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in embedding practical, sustainable risk management into the company's daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject-matter expert, advising on insurance requirements, risk allocation, and coverage implications during contract review.

  • Act as a primary point of contact for insurance-related inquiries, assessing coverage needs and prioritizing complex requests.

  • Manage the end-to-end annual insurance renewal process, including data collection, application completion, and broker coordination.

  • Oversee global incident reporting and claims management, ensuring timely coordination and resolution.

  • Maintain and update risk management documentation (e.g., certificates of insurance, local policies) to ensure accuracy and consistency across entities.

  • Partner with Finance to ensure premium payments are timely, accurately recorded, and aligned with policy terms and controls.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., IT Security, Real Estate, Facilities, HR) to identify and mitigate risk exposures.

Skills/Competencies

  • Requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience; or a minimum of 8 years with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience.

  • Technical knowledge of insurance coverages and ability to interpret policy language (e.g., Employers Liability, Professional Indemnity, Cyber Liability, Public Liability).

  • Experience in Insurance/Risk Management (broker, carrier, or in-house) with hands-on experience with enterprise risk management platforms (e.g., Origami Risk).

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to assess risk and recommend practical solutions.

  • Excellent business acumen and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex topics clearly to varied audiences.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, including preparing and delivering written and verbal presentations; willingness to travel up to 5%.
