Job Summary

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment within the warehouse facility. This role involves routine cleaning, waste management, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Custodians utilize an eye for detail and a proactive approach to cleanliness to perform physical tasks efficiently. 

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties below to a high standard. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors to ensure cleanliness throughout the warehouse. 
  • Clean restrooms, break rooms, and office areas regularly. 
  • Wipe down surfaces and equipment to maintain a dust-free environment 
  • Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables according to local protocols and expectations 
  • Maintain waste bins and recycling receptacles, ensuring timely removal and replacement 
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment 
  • Report any safety hazards, damaged equipment, or maintenance requests to leadership 
  • Monitor and replenish inventory levels of cleaning supplies 
  • Organize and store cleaning equipment and materials in designated areas 
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for warehouse events or meetings 
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed 
  • Meet all expected performance standards regarding efficiency, accuracy and quality of work   
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following all safety guidelines and reporting any hazards to the appropriate leadership.  
  • Work closely with team members and leadership to meet daily, weekly, and monthly departmental goals  
  • Abide by all company and warehouse policies  
  • Flex into other positions and departments and undertake additional duties as necessary to support the overall operation 
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a distribution environment preferred but not required 
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
