SUMMARY

Responsible for the setup, mechanical troubleshooting and operation of own machines in bindery (folder, cutters, printers, etc.) or inserting (feeders, inserters, sorting, etc.). Train to be a backup mechanic when needed. This is a preliminary position to becoming a mechanic..

WORK SCHEDULE

12 hour shift (6 am - 6pm/6 pm - 6 am)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform setup on own machine in a timely manner. Clean machine prior to setup and inspect the machine as a preventive maintenance measure. Review and interpret recap instructions; order materials by turning on yellow light (inserting); complete production and QC records, as required.
  • Operate and also perform mechanical troubleshooting on own machine and make corrections to ensure dimensions and quality of piece; monitor production.


  • For Bindery:
  • Perform all separate setup operations (mount rolls, adjust web guides, thread paper, setup folder, etc.)
  • Complete entire setups for different types of work (1up, 2up, Interstack, Wrap and Single Plow)
  • Hand gather folded work from conveyor and load labels into A-frames or trays, as required.
  • Make minor adjustments as needed.


  • For Inserting:
  • Perform all separate setup operations (friction and rotary feeders, strap adjustments, envelopes, camera, etc.)
  • Complete entire setups for different types of work (#9/#10, 6x9, card affix, etc.)
  • Hand gather completed mail from conveyor and load mail into trays with proper tray tags, as required
  • Make minor adjustments as needed.
  • Keep immediate work area neat and orderly with minimal damages to mail pieces.
  • Be available to assist other operators in the area if required.
  • Comply with company rules and regulations and bindery procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.
  • Implement a commitment to quality philosophy and recommend methods and procedures to reduce cost and/or improve operating efficiency of the department.
  • Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as required to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and company.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

·         High school diploma or GED.
