Job description

ABOUT THRASHER
The Thrasher Group, Inc. is a full-service architecture, engineering, and field services consulting firm serving clients across the Mid-Atlantic region. Since 1983, our mission has been to improve the communities where we live and work. Our in-house, multi-disciplinary team carries projects from concept to ribbon cutting, and our landscape architecture practice plays a key role in shaping parks, streetscapes, campuses, and public spaces throughout the region.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Thrasher is seeking a Landscape Architect to join our Planning & Landscape Architecture team. This position will work closely with architects, civil engineers, and surveyors on a diverse range of projects, including parks and recreation facilities, trails, streetscapes, tourism infrastructure related site development, master plans, and community revitalization efforts. The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented designer who enjoys collaborating across disciplines and seeing projects through from early concepts to construction. Our team is currently engaged in a multitude of community improvement projects across our footprint that are transforming public and private spaces in Appalachia. We are passionate about improving the places around us and are looking for a team member that wants to be involved in transformative projects for our region.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop site plans, landscape plans, planting designs, grading concepts, and hardscape details for public and private projects.
  • Prepare conceptual designs, renderings, and graphics for master plans, community engagement, and funding applications.
  • Produce construction documents, details, and specifications in coordination with multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Participate in client meetings, public presentations, and community input sessions.
  • Conduct site visits and assist with construction administration to ensure design intent is achieved.
  • Support project pursuits and proposals with design concepts and graphic content.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
Licensure: Licensed Landscape Architect (PLA) preferred, or actively pursuing licensure.
Experience: 3-7 years of professional landscape architecture or site design experience preferred; strong entry-level candidates will be considered.
Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D required; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Lumion, or similar visualization tools a plus.
Skills: Strong graphic, design, and communication skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively across disciplines.
BENEFITS
Thrasher provides an excellent benefit package which includes health, dental and vision insurance, company paid short- and long-term disability, 401K matching, paid parental leave, life insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance and much more.
An emphasis is placed on professional development which includes structured goal setting and specialized training opportunities. Professional development is monitored and recognized through bonuses and annual salary reviews.
In promoting a family-oriented culture, we recognize the importance of work-life balance and schedule flexibility.
The Thrasher Group conducts pre-employment drug screens and background checks on all applicants who accept offers of employment. Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition of employment. EEO/AA/E-Verify
