Job description

Phlebotomist

Work location:   4001 Long Prairie Road - Suite 125      Flower Mound, TX 75028

Work hours:  Full-time, 40 hours weekly, Monday - Friday (7am-4pm)

Here's What You Need

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)

  • Graduate from accredited Phlebotomy training program (STRONGLY PREFERRED)

  • 2 Years related Experience (STRONGLY PREFERRED)

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire (STRONGLY PREFERRED)

  • Demonstrates effective communication and organizational skills.

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within field.

  • Possesses a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.

  • Strong customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

What You Will Do

  • Assembles equipment, such as tourniquet, needles, disposable containers for needles, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray, according to requirements for specified tests or procedures.

  • Verifies and/or records identity of patient or donor.

  • Draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. May prick finger to draw blood.

  • Sends specimens to reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house.

  • Maintains proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program including accessioning logs, equipment records and checklists.

  • Identifies problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and takes appropriate action, including supervisor notification.

  • Orders and maintains supply levels for all equipment and services provided by laboratories.

  • Performs in house laboratory testing as directed by the practice.

  • Participates in special project and/or completes other duties as assigned.
