Position Overview

As a Project Supplier Quality (SQS) Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of equipment and materials across complex, high-impact projects. Partnering closely with project management, engineering, construction teams, and global suppliers, you'll help drive quality from initial planning through final delivery.

In this role, you'll support the execution of supplier quality strategies aligned with client expectations and project requirements, while gaining exposure to diverse industries and large-scale infrastructure projects. Under the guidance of the Project Supplier Quality Manager, you will contribute to resolving complex quality challenges, improving supplier performance, and ensuring successful project outcomes.

This is primarily an office-based position with opportunities for meaningful field and supplier interaction, including up to 25% travel across North America and internationally.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of Project Supplier Quality Manager or Department Manager, you will:
    Review & approve of project specific supplier quality and manufacturing documents including Quality plans, Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), Material Test Reports (MTRs), fabrication records etc. against codes, standards, and technical specifications. 
    Track, manage and resolve supplier nonconformities & quality issues. 
    Ensure Client Quality requirements are met as set forth in Client Specifications
    Inspect or support assigned inspectors to ensure pressure vessels, equipment, piping, structural fabrications, and equipment are to code and project requirements.
    Ensure alignment of inspection and expediting activities
    Preparation of Project Specific Quality Documents such as instructions, checklists etc.
    Support assigned inspectors in audits and learn how to perform Supplier Audits
    Review and approve Supplier deviation requests / disposition technical queries related to Quality.
    Coordinate with Supplier, Customer & third-party inspector for witness and hold inspection points per project ITPs.
    Review and approval of the supplier's final documentation package / data book
    Undertake training as required
    Manage & track assigned budget for the project.
    Manage assigned inspectors, coordinators and 3rd party resources
    Support small estimates and projects.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, or similar technical discipline AND 5+ years of related Supplier Quality experience.
  • Will also consider Field Engineers or Superintendents with a strong background in EPC construction
  • Experience reviewing Inspection and Test Plans from suppliers to ensure those comply with the terms of the contract. 
  • Working knowledge/understanding of NDE, welding, ASME codes and coatings for engineered equipment (heavy manufacturing equipment, piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, for example) through construction or manufacturing
  • Experience in one or more of the following is required:  construction of oil/gas/chemical, power generation, water/wastewater processing, or industrial facilities, or heavy manufacturing performing Supplier Quality functions for machined, welded and assembled heavy equipment
  • Ability to review project and customer technical specifications and incorporate the requirements into Project Quality Plans and ITP's
  • Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings for pressure vessels, piping, structural fabrications, etc.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards such as NACE, ASME, AWS, ISO etc. 
  • Knowledge of the design and fabrication requirements of equipment used in power and oil & gas industry highly desired
  • Must be able to communicate in a professional manner
  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time around North America
