Job purpose

This position supports the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity best practices across BorgWarner's IT, OT, and GRC environments. The role assists with IT/OT security and compliance projects, collaborates with product security engineers, supports the expansion of the Third-Party Risk Management program, and helps develop AI-enabled workflows for risk management and other cybersecurity needs. Working together across global business units, this position helps advance cybersecurity strategy, compliance, and governance in alignment with global standards and practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Support IT/OT cybersecurity governance, risk, and compliance activities, including risk documentation, control tracking, evidence collection, and remediation follow-up.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, standards, procedures, and best practices across IT, OT, and global business environments.
  • Support OT security initiatives by helping document risks, track control gaps, and coordinate with plant, engineering, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams.
  • Support the development and use of AI-enabled models, workflows, and automation to improve risk identification, reporting, prioritization, and cybersecurity process efficiency.
  • Partner with product security engineers to support alignment between product cybersecurity activities (PenTest & OWASP), enterprise security requirements, and applicable compliance expectations.
  • Assist with the expansion and ongoing execution of the Third-Party Risk Management program, including vendor risk assessments, control reviews, documentation, and follow-up on remediation activities.
  • Research cybersecurity trends, regulatory requirements, industry standards (TISAX, NIST CSF, etc.), and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement of the security program.
  • Become an advocate of BorgWarner information security procedures, policies, and processes, and standards as a mechanism to enable the business effectively while managing risk appropriately.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures and projects.
  • Assist in preparing dashboards, reports, metrics, and presentations that communicate cybersecurity risk, compliance status, and program progress to stakeholders.

What we're looking for

  • 1 - 2 years of professional experience in an early career role; internship, academic, project, co-op, or related experience in cybersecurity, IT, engineering, data analytics, risk management, or compliance preferred.
  • Required Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science or related field
  • Preferred Education: A four-year degree in Information Technology with an emphasis in information security
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Information Systems security, security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of information protection methodologies and concepts, such as identification and authentication, access control, inception and audit trails
  • Strong interpersonal communication and coordination skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of employees, leaders at various levels, and other customers. Coordination, facilitation, consultation and conflict resolution skills
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g. TISAX, NIST Cybersecurity framework and/or ISO 27001) and risk management methodologies
  • Knowledge in using AI-enabled tools, workflows, automation, and data models to improve risk identification, reporting, prioritization, and cybersecurity process efficiency.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present cybersecurity risk, compliance, and program data using tools such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, SharePoint, or similar platforms.
  • Passionate, curious, and demonstrate ownership for improving security processes and best practices
