2nd/3rd Class Operating Engineer

Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to St. Catharine's on a full-time basis.

We are looking for an experienced 2nd or 3rd Class Operating Engineer to join our St. Catharine's Propulsion Plant - Powerhouse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Required to safely and efficiently operate, maintain and repair high pressure steam gas fired boilers, air compressors and all auxiliary equipment in a first-class power plant

  • Able to trouble shoot and perform routine maintenance on various operational equipment

  • Perform the duties of the lead shift engineer as required for vacation and other absences

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Possession of a valid 2nd or 3rd Class Operating Engineer's certificate

  • Able to work on Monday - Friday, 7:00 - 3:00 day shift and cover some Shift Engineer Absences (7:00am - 7:00pm & 7:00pm - 7:00am

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Energetic and self-motivated

  • Familiar with the operation and maintenance of large air compressors

  • Working knowledge of DCS Controls

  • Able to work with minimal direct supervision

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • 3rd Class - full rate of $53.71/hr.

  • You will earn an afternoon shift premium of 5%, a night shift premium of 10%, paid overtime in accordance with the collective agreement.
