Job Title: High Voltage/Medium Voltage (HV/MV) Technician

Job Type: Full-Time

ACT Power Services, a national Solar Power Operations & Maintenance Provider, is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious High Voltage/Medium Voltage (HV/MV) Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, with expertise in the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of HV/MV electrical equipment and systems. This is a hands-on role that plays a critical part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of a solar power plant's infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HV/MV electrical systems (typically 5kV โ€“ 35kV and above).
  • Conduct electrical testing of transformers, switchgear, breakers, relays, and protective devices.
  • Perform cable splicing and terminations in accordance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and perform root cause analysis.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and test results.
  • Assist in energizing new or repaired systems following strict safety protocols.
  • Comply with all OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
  • Support system upgrades, outages, and emergency repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure projects meet specifications and timelines.

Requirements

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3โ€“5 years of relevant experience working with HV/MV systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, protective relaying, and power system operations.
  • Proficiency in using electrical test equipment (e.g., Multimeters, Megger, Doble, HiPot, TTR, etc.).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.

Preferred:

  • Technical certificate or associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field.
  • OSHA 30 certification and NFPA 70E training.
  • NETA or equivalent testing certification is a plus.
  • Experience with substation and transmission system maintenance.
  • Certificate for medium voltage cable terminations and splices.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, heights, and around energized equipment.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE including arc flash suits.
