What is a Think Stack?

A Think Stack refers to a structured approach or framework that outlines the layers of technology, tools, and processes used to support strategic thinking and problem-solving in organizations. It can include methodologies, software platforms, data analysis tools, and collaboration systems that together help teams brainstorm, prioritize, and execute ideas efficiently. The concept is often used in innovation management and digital transformation to ensure that thinking processes are scalable and aligned with business goals.

What are the primary responsibilities of an IT professional working at Think Stack, and how do they collaborate with clients and team members?

At Think Stack, IT professionals typically focus on designing, implementing, and managing secure cloud and cybersecurity solutions for clients, many of whom are in regulated industries like finance. Daily responsibilities often include troubleshooting client systems, maintaining secure infrastructure, and working closely with both internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure technology aligns with business goals. Collaboration is key, as team members participate in regular meetings, joint project planning, and cross-functional initiatives to deliver customized solutions. The dynamic, client-focused environment fosters continuous learning and provides opportunities for career advancement into lead or specialized technical roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full stack developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Stack Developer, you need strong programming skills in both front-end and back-end languages (such as JavaScript, Python, or Java), a solid understanding of databases, and typically a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with frameworks like React, Angular, Node.js, as well as version control systems like Git, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, is commonly required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and effective communication skills help developers collaborate seamlessly and deliver robust solutions. These skills and qualities are crucial to efficiently build, maintain, and scale modern web applications in collaborative, fast-paced environments.

About Canyon

Canyon is one of the world’s leading direct-to-consumer bicycle brands. We engineer our bikes in Koblenz, Germany and sell them straight to riders — no dealer in between. That model is exactly why this role matters: every decision we make about how we market, price, forecast, and serve customers runs on data we own end to end.

Canyon Bicycles USA is a lean team of around 80 people based in Carlsbad, California, supporting riders across the country. We have come through a turnaround and are building for growth. It is a genuinely good moment to join, and there is a lot of room to shape how this function works.

Position Summary

Canyon Bicycles USA is looking for a Full Stack Analytics Engineer — a builder who owns data problems end to end, from raw source through pipeline, model, and interface, all the way to the executive decision the work is meant to change.

This is deliberately a generalist role, sitting within Canyon USA’s Operations, Supply Chain and IT function and working across the U.S. systems portfolio. You will architect and build the systems that Canyon USA runs its commercial decision-making on: GA4 and marketing data pipelines, the internal analytics application our Marketing and Sales teams use daily, and the forecasting models that drive planning as the business shifts from turnaround into growth. You will do this largely alone at first, using AI-assisted development to move at a speed a traditional analytics team could not, and you will be responsible for making what you build durable enough for others to inherit.

We are not looking for a specialist in one layer of the stack. We are looking for someone who can sit with a marketing leader, work out what question actually matters, and then go build the whole thing — and who cares more about the business decision at the end than the elegance of the code in the middle.

Who We Are Looking For

Commercial Experience

A background embedded in growth marketing, e-commerce, or digital product teams. You should understand customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), contribution margin, media efficiency, and multi-touch attribution as working concepts, not as terms you would need to look up. You have been accountable to a commercial team, not adjacent to one.

Architecture Mindset

Strong business acumen paired with a software engineering or consulting background. You design systems, not scripts. You think about who maintains this in a year, where the data definitions live, and what breaks when the source changes. You care more about solving business problems than about writing code.

Modern Core Stack

The stack is anchored by Google BigQuery for cloud warehousing and Python for data pipelines and predictive modeling. It relies on deep AI fluency — using agentic tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot to build, test, and ship end-to-end data systems at speed. Fluency here is a requirement of the role, not a bonus.

This Role Is Not

  • A dashboard-building or report-writing role. You will build dashboards, but only as the last mile of systems you designed and engineered yourself.
  • A pure data engineering role. Pipelines are roughly a third of the job. If you have never had to defend a number to a VP, this is not the right fit.
  • A data science research role. We are not hiring for novel modeling. We are hiring for practical forecasting that a commercial team will act on.
  • A first role in analytics engineering. This position assumes you have already built and shipped production systems across both the data and application layers.

Summary of Role and Responsibilities

The responsibilities described below are the essential functions of this position.

Data Architecture and Pipelines

  • Own the GA4 and marketing data pipeline: Build and maintain Python and SQL extraction processes pulling aggregated data via the GA4 Data API into BigQuery, and maintain metric parity with native GA4 reporting, validated with global technical partners.
  • Integrate commercial data sources: Combine web analytics, marketing spend, SAP and SAC reporting outputs, e-commerce transaction data, and external APIs into a coherent, documented model of the U.S. business.
  • Own data definitions: Establish and defend the definitions behind core commercial metrics — CAC, LTV, contribution margin, attribution — in partnership with Global BI, so the organization argues about decisions rather than about numbers.

Application and Interface Development

  • Build and extend the internal analytics application: Develop features across the Overview and Economics areas of Canyon USA’s marketing data platform, including marketing touchpoint integration at the product family level, spend ingestion, and traffic fallout adjustment.
  • Deliver the last mile: Build clean, answer-first interfaces using front-end fundamentals (HTML/CSS) so that complex logic surfaces as a conclusion a business leader can act on.

Forecasting and Modeling

  • Build rolling forecasts: Develop and maintain rolling revenue and traffic forecasts driven by digital spend, site activity, and early demand signals, and improve their accuracy over time.
  • Support planning cycles: Provide the modeling and scenario inputs that Finance, Marketing, and Commercial Excellence use for planning as the business scales.

Delivery Practice and Handoff

  • Work AI-first: Use agentic development workflows to compress delivery timelines, with the judgment to structure prompts well, test outputs rigorously, and catch the failure modes these tools introduce.
  • Document and de-risk: Maintain repository documentation, product architecture, data lineage, and a forward roadmap so the platform is inheritable and does not depend on any one person.
  • Build the function: Establish the standards, tooling, and practices that a future U.S. analytics team will be built on, and mentor or onboard additional analytics staff as the function grows.
  • Partner across the systems portfolio: Coordinate with the U.S. IT and systems team on integration points, source system changes, security and access requirements, and delivery sequencing, so analytics work lands cleanly alongside the wider project portfolio.

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Translate for executives: Present predictive and modeling work to non-technical leaders in a way that leads to action rather than to a discussion of methodology.
  • Manage a transparent queue: Scope, size, and sequence requests through the domestic Change Board, maintaining a visible backlog across Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet all of the following to be considered:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a comparable hands-on technical role, including at least 2 years supporting a commercial function (growth marketing, e-commerce, or digital product).
  • Demonstrated ownership of at least one analytics system-built end to end — raw source through pipeline, transformation, and interface — that was adopted and relied upon by business users.
  • Production-level proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery or an equivalent cloud data warehouse.
  • Working experience with web analytics data at the API level, ideally the GA4 Data API.
  • Demonstrated fluency with agentic AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or equivalent) used to ship production work, including the testing discipline to validate what they produce.
  • Working knowledge of retail or DTC unit economics, including CAC, LTV, media efficiency, and contribution margin.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting analytical findings directly to senior or executive stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

You do not need to check every box below to be a strong candidate.

  • Experience in a DTC, e-commerce, or specialty retail environment; cycling, outdoor, or sporting goods is a strong plus.
  • Front-end development capability (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) sufficient to build and style internal tools independently.
  • Experience building forecasting or predictive models that were adopted into a recurring planning process.
