Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Therapeutic Mentor. As a Therapeutic Mentor, you will provide invaluable support, guidance, and training to individuals under the age of 21, aiding in the development of age-appropriate behaviors and essential life skills.


Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


  • 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited school and one (1) year of experience working with the target population; or
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and one (1) year experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth.
  • Ability to perform to the levels outlined in the Department of Public Health and Insurer regulations governing the delivery of the particular service delivered by the professional staff, excluding those reserved for physicians.
  • Capable of delivering the full range of therapeutic modalities.


Minimum Skills and Knowledge:


  • Ability to communicate effectively with mental health professionals and other community professionals.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records.
  • Familiarity with software applications for meeting guidelines and timelines regarding reports and paperwork.
  • Knowledge of professional ethics related to providing therapeutic mentoring services.
  • Understanding of environmental and cultural factors inherent in the treatment of mental disorders.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Provide support, coaching, modeling, and training to individuals under the age of 21, aiding in the development of age-appropriate behaviors.

  • Focus on improving social skills, interpersonal communication, problem-solving abilities, conflict resolution, and fostering healthy relationships within community-based services and programs.
  • Follow client's treatment plans, attend team meetings, and participate in supervision.
  • Ensure that the youth is engaged in one of the hub services (ICC, IHT, or Outpatient).
  • Monitor and document client progress accurately and thoroughly.
  • Gather data concerning intervention effectiveness systematically.
  • Verify the necessity of Therapeutic Mentoring to facilitate achievement of identified goals.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive assessment and CANS completed by the hub provider demonstrate medical necessity for Therapeutic Mentoring services.
  • Maintain regular contact with hub providers to provide updates on progress.
  • Deliver high-quality, culturally competent, and appropriate treatment to assigned cases consistently.
