Job Summary
Character Performers bring Big Rivers' seasonal events to life by portraying a variety of themed characters throughout the year. Performers remain in character while interacting with guests, creating memorable experiences through movement, improvisation, and engaging performances. This position requires enthusiasm, professionalism, creativity, and a commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for every guest.
Essential Functions
To succeed in this role, individuals must perform all essential functions effectively, with reasonable accommodation provided as needed.
  • Portray assigned characters with enthusiasm, professionalism, and consistency throughout each shift.
  • Remain in character while interacting with guests to create immersive and memorable experiences.
  • Perform assigned movements, gestures, dialogue, or vocal effects appropriate for each character.
  • Follow direction from Entertainment Supervisors regarding character assignments, performance expectations, and event operations.
  • Wear assigned costumes, makeup, masks, wigs, or accessories as required.
  • Assist with costume care, props, and dressing areas to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings while prioritizing guest and team member safety at all times.
  • Create positive, engaging, and age-appropriate guest interactions while supporting the theme of each event.
  • Arrive on time for rehearsals, costume fittings, pre-shift meetings, and scheduled performances.
  • Work as part of a team while remaining flexible to changing entertainment schedules and operational needs.
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and other entertainment-related duties as assigned.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures while protecting company assets.
  • Report unsafe conditions, damaged costumes or props, or guest concerns to management immediately.
  • Take pride in wardrobe, costume, grooming, and overall appearance.
  • Assist other departments as staffing needs require.
