The Opportunity:
We are looking for a highly ambitious and strategic Portfolio Manager to oversee the management and growth of Valnet's Gaming Portfolio. This role is ideal for a seasoned leader with a background in media management, strategy, or P&L management, and a strong affinity for the entertainment industry. You will be responsible for driving revenue, optimizing operations, and leading teams across brands within the entertainment vertical. The ideal candidate possesses a blend of strong analytical skills, leadership qualities, and a proven track record of scaling digital brands.
Responsibilities:
  • Portfolio Strategy & Leadership: Define and implement strategic plans to maximize the performance and growth of our Gaming Portfolio.. Lead teams to align on vision, drive initiatives, and optimize brand positioning across the entertainment vertical.
  • Revenue Growth: Identify opportunities to boost revenue streams across multiple channels including programmatic, direct advertising, and affiliate marketing. Collaborate with sales and business development teams to secure strategic partnerships that enhance revenue.
  • Cost Management & Efficiency: Develop and monitor P&L statements, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising on content quality. Identify areas for cost optimization and lead initiatives to streamline operations.
  • Content & Audience Strategy: Oversee editorial direction and ensure that content strategies are data-driven, audience-focused, and aligned with the long-term vision. Track market trends and competitor performance to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Team Development & Culture: Cultivate a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance. Mentor brand leaders, setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback to ensure continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Use key performance indicators (KPIs) to analyze brand performance, track progress, and drive strategic adjustments. Generate comprehensive reports to update Valnet's senior leadership on portfolio status, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Develop New Ventures and investment opportunities: Identify and explore opportunities for new projects, initiatives, and ventures within the entertainment sector that can complement or expand the current portfolio. Create business cases, assess feasibility, and lead the development of these ventures.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5-15 years in roles such as General Manager, Portfolio Manager, Corporate Strategy, M&A, Private Equity, Operations Management or Investment Banking.
  • Strategic Mindset: Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute plans effectively, with a deep understanding of P&L management, corporate strategy, and revenue optimization.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading and managing teams, fostering a competitive and collaborative work environment. Must be capable of making tough decisions and driving results under pressure.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify market trends, measure brand performance, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and present to key stakeholders, including senior management and external partners.
