Job Description
Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: Labor and Delivery
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night
Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (19:00 - 07:30)
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
License: NJ or Compact License required
Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate (or NCC C-EFM), NRP, BLS required
Must-Have:
COVID-19 vaccination and booster required, no exemptions.
Flu vaccination and booster required, no exemptions.
Description:
The nurse will provide care to pregnant patients, including those with high-risk pregnancies.
Responsibilities include assisting with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and high-risk deliveries.
Knowledge of administration of blood products, anticoagulation therapy, and antihypertensives is necessary.
The nurse will perform sterile vaginal exams, monitor fetal heart rates, and manage epidural anesthesia.
Experience with intravenous therapy and use of infusion pumps is required.
Candidates should be proficient in interpreting EKG strips for rhythm analysis.
Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to provide support for breastfeeding is preferred.
The position requires weekend coverage and the ability to float to other units as needed.
The candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, including various support services.
Strong foundational knowledge of labor and delivery procedures is essential for success.
