Job description

SUMMARY AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

Under the General Manager's direction, the Security Officer will monitor for internal and external theft, assist in maintaining a safe environment for staff and customers, and check-in dispensary customers. They will patrol company property to prevent theft and violence. Qualified candidates should have a military or law enforcement background or extensive professional security experience and training.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patrol and monitor interior and exterior premises as directed
  • Meet security goals, deadlines, and performance standards
  • Assess security and identify areas for improvement
  • Use checklists to prevent criminal activity and asset loss
  • Follow company policies and safety standards
  • Check-in dispensary guests at the reception desk
  • Coordinate with staff to manage traffic, reduce wait times, and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Handle customer issues and manage conflicts
  • Perform cleaning tasks and pick up trash
  • Escort personnel as needed
  • Stay updated with staff communications on Slack
  • Assist in training new hires
  • Maintain organization of the security station and entrance
  • Monitor surrounding property to prevent diversion and deter loitering
  • Assist with other dispensary tasks as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A valid State issued Driver's License
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must successfully pass a drug test for all substances non-cannabis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior cannabis industry knowledge, education, or certification
  • Understanding of state marijuana policies, laws, compliance, and regulations
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet applications
  • Ability to multitask, maintain teamwork, and resolve conflicts effectively
