JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Ice Rink Supervisor, is responsible for the orderly operation of the Ice Rink on an assigned shift; does related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Operates Zamboni Machine to prepare and re-surface ice properly; performs minor maintenance on Zamboni.
  • Monitors refrigeration equipment to insure orderly mechanical operations.
  • Advises superior of any unusual occurrences or situations.
  • Insures that public sessions, events, etc., begin in a timely manner.
  • Receives, counts and secures funds collected for the use of the rink.
  • Meets with the public, explains programs, resolves complaints.
  • Directs seasonal workers in proper and safe performance of their duties.
  • Monitors dressing rooms, outer office and all areas frequented by the public.
  • Keeps appropriate records on fees collected.
  • Performs custodial work as required.
  • Wears protective equipment as directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good knowledge of the operation of an ice rink.
  • Ability to meet and deal effectively with the public and special groups.
  • Ability to perform minor clerical and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to supervise seasonal workers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited high school and one (1) year of experience in the operation and maintenance of an ice rink.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: At time of appointment, possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
Working Conditions, Physical and Mental Requirements: Employees appointed to positions in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the class. A physical examination may be required.
If the position is a seasonal/temporary position, it is not eligible for union benefits.
