What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Rigging SME, serves as the technical authority for all lifting, rigging, and material handling activities. This position provides oversight, planning support, training, and field guidance to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution of complex lifts and rigging operations. The Rigging SME works closely with project management, engineering, craft supervision, crane operators, and rigging personnel to develop lifting strategies and resolve rigging challenges.
Citizenship Requirement:
This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.
What You'll Do Here:

  • Serve as the technical expert for all rigging and lifting activities.
  • Review and approve lift plans, rigging configurations, and critical lift strategies.
  • Verify compliance with customer requirements, site procedures, OSHA regulations, and company safety programs.
  • Provide field support and coaching to supervisors, foremen, riggers, and crane operators.
  • Evaluate load characteristics, center of gravity, load paths, and rigging requirements.
  • Recommend appropriate rigging hardware, lifting devices, spreader bars, and specialty equipment.
  • Perform or oversee rigging inspections and ensure pre-use inspections are completed.
  • Participate in pre-job briefs and hazard assessments for lifting activities.
  • Investigate lifting and rigging incidents, near misses, and equipment failures.
  • Support procurement and selection of rigging equipment.
  • Develop and deliver rigging training and qualification programs.
  • Interface with vendors and proprietary equipment manufacturers to obtain technical guidance and installation support.
  • Ensure exclusion zones, barricades, and line-of-fire controls are established and maintained.
  • Active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understating and implementing policies and procedures.
  • To maintain departmental costs within budget.
  • Meet with customers, suppliers, and jurisdictional authorities.
  • Meet with unionized supervisors and employees or various disciplines.
  • Interface with Senior and Project Management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • NCCCO Rigger Level II certification.
  • NCCCO Signal Person certification.
  • Experience developing lift plans.
  • Nuclear industry experience.
  • Experience with engineered lifts and specialty lifting devices.

  • Expert knowledge of lifting and rigging practices.

Salary Range & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $85.00 - $100.00 hourly
