The NYC Carpenters Training Center (CTC) is seeking an experienced Rigging & Signaler Instructor to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering hands-on training to members in rigging and signaling, ensuring they acquire the practical skills and knowledge required to perform these tasks safely and effectively in the field.

You will play a key role in preparing members to work safely and efficiently in environments where rigging and signaling are critical.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver training programs focused on rigging and signaling techniques, ensuring alignment with industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in rigging hardware, setup, application, and proper signaling methods (both voice and hand signals) following OSHA regulations.
  • Evaluate member performance through practical assessments and offer feedback to support their skill development.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to maintain the relevance and quality of the training program.
  • Ensure a safe training environment that adheres to all safety regulations and promotes a strong safety culture.
  • Engage and motivate members by fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Must be a member in Good Standing with The New York City District Council of Carpenters.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in rigging, signaling, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in rigging, signaling, or a closely related trade.
  • In-depth knowledge of rigging hardware, signaling protocols, and OSHA-compliant safety standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Basic knowledge in using computers, tablets, and instructional programs for managing coursework.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in delivering technical instruction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for instructional materials and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage training tasks and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of learners and colleagues.

The New York City District Council of Carpenters Training Center offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits. The Carpenters Training Center is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from all qualified candidates regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, or disability.
