The NexPoint real estate team has completed billions of dollars of gross real estate transactions since 2013. NexPoint's investment team has a combined 70 years of investment experience with some of the world's most sophisticated institutions and investors and has invested in the following real estate asset classes:

Job Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for the financial reporting for multiple public and private REITs. This highly interactive position will be involved in all aspects of the real estate team's day-to-day operations and work with senior members on the real estate team, analysts, legal, tax, external auditors, and lawyers. The individual will also be involved in preparing investor presentations materials for the board of directors, valuation analysis, due diligence on new investment ideas, and more. Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A for financial reporting as required by the SEC, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other filings as needed
  • Build out processes for new investment vehicles to provide first-in-class real estate accounting and reporting for REITs, including internal control design and implementation
  • Manage cash and day-to-day operations for public and private REITs.
  • Calculate and track underlying asset performance.
  • Lead the annual audits and quarterly reviews, including completing required audit schedules, work papers and other documentation
  • Preparation/compilation of supplemental investor and reporting packages
  • Assist with special projects and provide support to other real estate-related activities, funds, and investments

Requirements

  • At least 2+ years of audit experience with a major accounting firm, preferably within the real estate industry
  • BBA/BS in Accounting required, from a top-tier school
  • Current CPA license or completion of all four CPA exams (highly preferred)
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently and multi-task in a complex, fast- paced, and deadline-driven environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and time management skills
  • Must operate with attention to detail and a high sense of urgency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
