Job description

SUMMARY
The Grand Sierra Resort is seeking a talented and qualified individual to serve as a Manager for The POOL. In this role team member will be responsible for all daily department operations, providing superior customer service to all guests according to the GSR service standards, managing all levels of staff, resolving guest issues appropriately, supporting all other staff and management, and maintaining cleanliness of all areas in accordance with department standards. This role requires a strong knowledge of the GSR resort and its amenities with the ability to promote our various offerings and products at all opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Communicate with guests professionally, answering questions and offering assistance when possible.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail, maintain the cleanliness of the bars, pool, and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure pool and surrounding areas meet department standards and are suitable for guest use. This includes managing all opening, daily, and closing procedures.
  • Responsible for training all team members, delegating tasks, and work closely with all team members to ensure success.
  • Ensure team members are adhering to Health Department standards at all times as well as promoting a neat, clean and organized environment.
  • Provide clear communication and direction keeping team members informed and educated on current department and company initiatives.
  • Attend and participate in all meetings as required, maintains an open line of communication with management relaying relevant information and events.
  • Interview, hire, coach and train team members to ensure company guidelines are followed and our guests are receiving the best service possible.
  • Analyze feedback from guests, make logical judgements and take action to implement suggestions for improvement.
  • Responsible for daily scheduling and reports, maintain appropriate staffing levels for business levels making adjustments as needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Present a professional appearance.
  • Enthusiastically support, actively promote and demonstrate superior guest service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
  • Aware of all property events and activities and utilize effective communication tools to ensure that consistent, accurate and timely information is provided through the company and to potential guests.
  • Prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of POS terminals.
  • Ability of complex reading, writing, math, and task completion skills is required.
  • Must have the following skills: clerical, compiling, coordination, analyzing, supervising, instructing, precision working, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.
  • Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years' experience in hospitality, pool setting, or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License & Alcohol Awareness card.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly sitting, standing, walking, reaching overhead, bending over, frequently crouching, and kneeling during the duration of their shift.
  • Must be able to push/pull 50lbs or less frequently and 100lbs or less occasionally.
  • The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both feet. Team member will constantly have repetitive use of their dominant hand, occasional use of their non-dominant hand, and constant light grasping motions. Team member will have occasional use of firm/strong grasping motion. Finger dexterity of both hands will be frequently required.
  • Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors, alone and frequently with and around others. Team Member will perform work face-to-face including verbal contact with others on extended shifts in possible confined areas around computer equipment, mechanical equipment, and other electrical devices.
  • Team Member may be around flame/heat generated devices.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Team Member may be exposed to extreme heat/cold, vibrations, slippery surfaces, high places, moving objects, fumes/odor and/or secondhand smoke.
