Job description

Help people decide where to eat next with smart, useful restaurant coverage. You will explore the San Francisco Bay Area dining scene and turn your discoveries into reviews, guides, and newsletters our audience trusts.

As a Senior Writer, San Francisco in The Infatuation Editorial team, you write compelling reviews, guides, and newsletters focused on the San Francisco Bay Area. You research and visit restaurants multiple times per week and translate your findings into relatable, well-researched content with a clear point of view. You collaborate with editors and cross-functional partners to publish accurate, engaging stories across web, newsletter, and social channels.

Job responsibilities

  • Own restaurant guides and reviews end to end, including concepting, research, writing, and publishing.
  • Write clean, accurate copy that reflects The Infatuation voice, standards, and editorial quality.
  • Conduct ongoing restaurant research and capture photos and video for multi-channel use.
  • Contribute to social content by capturing assets during research and appearing on camera as needed.
  • Pitch new reviews, guides, and social concepts regularly and help shape coverage and distribution plans.
  • Engage with audiences through newsletters and social channels to build trust and connection.
  • Partner with brand and marketing teams on larger content packages when needed.
  • Stay current on restaurant news, openings and closures, and dining trends.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 4+ years of writing experience at a reputable digital or print publication.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a distinct point of view and thoughtful criticism.
  • Ability to follow brand standards and deliver consistent voice and tone.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments at once.
  • Deep knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area restaurant landscape and neighborhoods.
  • Comfort appearing on camera and creating content for social platforms.
  • Strong fact-checking and research skills with a commitment to journalistic integrity.
  • Ability to pitch new ideas and execute them with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work in or near the San Francisco Bay Area and dine out multiple times per week.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in food, beverage, or lifestyle writing.
  • Openness to trying a wide variety of cuisines and menu items.
  • Collaborative working style and comfort incorporating feedback across teams.
