Job description

The General Manager is responsible for effectively managing all facets of their gym, including, but not limited to hiring, training, development of team members and overall gym operations. Including delivering excellent customer service to our members while role-modeling the organization's values and culture. The General Manager may occasionally be required to work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet business needs.


Major Responsibilities

  • Member Experience
  • Deliver exceptional gym member experience
  • Oversee member experience withing the gym and lead by example
  • Provide and maintain the highest level of customer service to our members
  • Provide effective decision-making regarding customer service issues to provide a positive member experience
  • Ensure our member receive the best fitness experience by walking the gym floor and assisting members when needed
  • Manages member feedback of gym

Team Member Experience

  • Deliver exceptional team member experience
  • Hire, train and schedule all gym-level staff
  • Trains and develops Front Desk Team Members and/or Frontline Team Members regarding all Standard Operating Processes involving member acquisition and onboarding
  • Manage and evaluate the performance of all gym team members
  • Oversees team member bi-weekly payroll to ensure all missed punches are corrected and submitted on time with payroll signed off by indicated deadline

Gym Management Responsibilities

  • Manages P&L of their gym to ensure expected profitability
  • Facilitate and monitor company-wide initiatives
  • Ensure facility is clean and operationally sound & assist in organizing weights and inspecting equipment to ensure it is in working order
  • Responsible for managing janitorial and office supplies, printing and forms and small equipment
  • Effectively manages the operations of the gym, including managing gym-controllable inventory and assets
  • Be an ambassador of your gym by promoting and staying aware of your gym's social medica and digital presence
  • Respond to social media inquiries
  • Understands budgeting, inventory, payroll, labor management, and facilities maintenance o Have business acumen that includes an understanding of the competitive landscape and community around the gym
  • Ensure compliance throughout the gym
  • Ensure gym audits, which are in place to ensure the safety of our members and team members, are done in the expected timeframe
  • Stay aware of all job postings for your gym, and ensure interviews are performed on a consistent basis to prevent any open positions in operations or fitness

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience, preferably in the fitness or hospitality-related industry. Bachelor's degree in business or related field is desirable!
  • Prior experience in personal training or management of personal trainers are highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of operations and performance metrics, including P&L, budgeting, inventory, employee relations and labor management, facilities maintenance
  • Team up with third-party vendors and internal support teams to ensure proper operations and maintenance of gym facilities
  • Become an expert on Gold Gym's products and target customers
  • Share weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance updates, including wins, learnings, and opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain flexibility in your daily schedule to handle communication needs, sometimes outside of typical business hours. Must be flexible and reliable team player, both internally and externally.
  • Must be able to build relationships, genuine connections, and trust, both internally and externally. Must have a customer-centric mentality and commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
  • Must be proactive and possess strong organizational and prioritization skills. Must have a high attention to detail and ability to management multiple projects and priorities
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly in all various modes (verbal, written, text, etc.) Must have well-developed interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
  • Must be results and bottom-line oriented yet possess sensitivity towards people and values
  • Must have exceptional time-management skills and be able to execute tasks and responsibilities in an ever-changing industry

  • Ability to travel to various fitness clubs and out of state meetings, or as needed
