Job description

Management Systems International (MSI), a Tetra Tech Company, needs a Mechanical Engineer in Bangkok, Thailand for construction of New US Embassy Office Annex and Embassy Upgrade with State Dept. Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO). Requires a US Govt. Secret Security Clearance. This is an active position, not a proposal and you will be joining the team already on the ground.

The Project

  • $400M Design/Build New Office Annex (NOX) and Embassy Upgrade
    • New 14-story Office Annex (NOX)
      • will be comprised of tiered glass volumes covered in slats in order to mitigate Bangkok's hot and humid climate while maintaining views of the landscape.
    • 39 bed Marine Security Guard Residence (MSGR)
    • CACs (Consular and Pedestrian)
    • 2-story Utility Building and 365 vehicle surface parking
    • Upgrades and site improvements include:
      • CACs (main and service), new glazing, new doors, and interior finishing
    • Internal perimeter walls and landscaping
  • We ask for a minimum commitment of 1 year and the project is expected to last 24-36 months.
  • Housing and transportation allowances provided.
  • Uplift includes 10% of base salary plus 10% COLA. 
  • Benefits include (medical, dental, vision, 30 days paid time off a year, round trip flights home)

Position Description

You will:

  • Provide NEC project with full range of critical engineering, construction quality assurance, technical oversight.
  • Perform technical inspections of mechanical work, monitor construction contractor's quality control program, and review project drawings to ensure compliance.
  • Observe onsite construction and determine if construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed properly.
  • Monitor construction progress with regard to project schedule and submit weekly progress reports with recommendations based on technical review of project documents and field inspections.

Requirements

  • US Govt. Secret Clearance or higher
  • US Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Current US PE license can substitute for degree
  • 7 years construction experience
  • ABET accredited international degree accepted in lieu of US Bachelor's or US PE
