DescriptionOverview: The library's student employees work between 10-20 hours a week on a fixed schedule that varies by semester and that accommodates their class schedule. Their primary job duty is to staff the front desk and do other tasks at the direction of the full-time library employees. This position is designated for student employment and is anticipated to begin at the start of the
Fall 2026 semester. Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Provide customer service at the library desk.
- Answer basic informational, technological and directional questions.
- Track materials and check account information using the library's catalog.
- Shelve materials according to Dewey Decimal classification system and monitor to shelf organization.
- Process new books, withdrawals, and statistics-gathering under the supervision of the library staff.
- Maintain a clean and inviting space for the campus community.
- Carry out other duties as requested, including retrieving the library's mail from the Mellor Building, delivering periodicals, or making copies/scans.
Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some movement is require that depends on the ability to lift boxes, open drawers, and to use stairs.
