As a textile designer, you create designs for different types of fabrics, including knit, woven, and printed, for a particular industry, such as fashion or furnishings. Your job duties include using computer design software to produce textile designs, meeting with suppliers and manufacturers of textile materials, and keeping up with industry trends. Producing quality textile designs for your employer and maintaining your own art and design portfolio are two of your main responsibilities.

What is the difference between Textile Designer vs Fashion Designer?

How do textile designers typically collaborate with other departments during the product development process?

Textile Designers often work closely with product development, merchandising, and production teams to ensure their designs align with market trends and manufacturing capabilities. Regular meetings and feedback sessions are common, allowing designers to adjust patterns, colorways, and materials based on input from these departments. This collaboration ensures that the final textile products are both aesthetically appealing and feasible to produce at scale. Effective communication and adaptability are key for Textile Designers to succeed in this cross-functional environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a textile designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Textile Designer, you need a strong background in design principles, color theory, and textile fabrication, often supported by a degree in textile or fashion design. Proficiency in CAD software like Adobe Illustrator or specialized textile design programs, as well as familiarity with printing and weaving technologies, is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help designers translate ideas into market-ready products and collaborate with clients or manufacturers. These skills ensure innovative, high-quality textile designs that meet both aesthetic and functional requirements in a competitive industry.

What does a textile designer do?

A textile designer creates patterns and designs for fabrics used in clothing, home furnishings, and other products. Their work involves developing original designs, choosing colors and materials, and often working with digital tools or traditional methods like sketching and weaving. Textile designers collaborate with manufacturers to ensure their designs can be produced efficiently and meet quality standards. They also stay updated on trends to create appealing and marketable designs.

Job description

About Blitzy
Blitzy is a Cambridge, MA based AI software development platform on a mission to revolutionize the software development life cycle by autonomously building custom software to unlock the next industrial revolution. We're transforming how enterprises build software, turning enterprise requirements into production-ready code with an agentic software development platform that can autonomously execute 80% of the quantum of software development work. We're backed by multiple tier 1 investors, and have proven success as founders of previous start-ups.
Location: Cambridge, MA (in-person role)
Compensation: $100,000 - $125,000 + bonus and equity
The Role
We're looking for a passionate Graphic Designer who sees design as more than just creating slides and social posts. You'll be the visual voice of our revolutionary AI platform, serving as a design partner to our GTM team and working under the guidance of our Senior Graphic Designer and founding designer to create compelling assets that close enterprise deals.
While presentation design and marketing materials will be your core focus, we're building something bigger.
What Success Looks Like
  • Sales decks, pitch templates, and case studies you produce directly support enterprise deal progression and provide significant leverage for the GTM team.
  • Marketing and growth assets are delivered on-brand, on time, and at a consistently high level of craft, from social content to thought leadership materials.
  • Brand-consistent templates and reusable design systems you build reduce turnaround time across the company as it scales.
  • You establish yourself as a trusted design partner, known for exceptional taste and attention to detail on every project, big or small.
  • You take on increasing ownership across sales enablement, marketing, and strategic design systems as you prove your impact.

Areas of Ownership
Sales Enablement
  • High-impact sales decks and presentations for enterprise deals
  • Customizable pitch templates for different buyer personas
  • Case studies showcasing customer ROI and success stories

Marketing & Growth Assets
  • Social media content, paid campaign materials, growth ads
  • Product marketing materials (launches, feature updates, newsletters)
  • Infographics simplifying complex concepts
  • Reports, whitepapers, and thought leadership materials
  • Event materials and branded assets

Strategic Design Systems
  • Brand-consistent templates and reusable components
  • Data visualizations and charts for marketing materials
  • Cross-functional design support as company grows

Required Experience
  • 3-5 years professional graphic design experience (B2B tech/SaaS experience is a preferred)
  • Strong portfolio showcasing visual design skills - degree nice to have, but your work speaks louder
  • Exceptional taste and attention to detail - You approach every project with the same care, whether it's a high-stakes investor deck or routine social media asset. You obsess over typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy that others might overlook.
  • Expert proficiency in design tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Google Slides, Figma etc.)
  • Current design trends knowledge and understanding of best practices
  • Startup adaptability - comfortable with tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards

What Makes You Stand Out
  • Experience with presentation tools (Figma Slides, PowerPoint, Google Slides, Keynote)
  • Previous work at AI/ML or enterprise software companies
  • Familiarity with AI tools for design acceleration (optional but appreciated)

What Makes This Role Different
You'll work directly alongside our founding designer and Senior Graphic Designer, with a clear line of sight to the enterprise deals your work helps close. As one of the fastest-growing companies in our category, we're giving our design team real ownership from day one - this isn't a support function buried behind a request queue, it's a seat at the table for GTM strategy. You'll have the chance to grow beyond sales enablement into brand and product design as you prove your impact.
Our Culture
Who we are:
Led by two pioneering co-founders we are one of the fastest growing companies in the U.S., creating our own category of enterprise autonomous software development. We automate thousands of hours of software development for our customers, which includes strong representation within the Fortune 500.
