Overview
A Surgical Technologist II is a critical member of the surgical team who assists during operative procedures by preparing the operating room, sterilizing instruments, and providing direct assistance to surgeons and nurses. This role requires a strong understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols.
Education
  • Trade School Degree (Required)

Certification/Licensure
  • Surgical Technologist licensure required in the state of practice.

Experience
  • The Surgical Technologist II ensures that the operating room is properly prepared with the necessary instruments and equipment and assists the surgical team throughout the procedure by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and use critical thinking to anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
  • The role involves maintaining patient safety and ensuring that the surgical environment is organized, clean, and sterile.
  • The Surgical Technologist assists in applying dressings, securing surgical drapes and transferring patients to recovery areas. Adheres to infection control protocols and sterile techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
  • Works closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth and effective procedures. Serves as a role model to new employees and other staff members. Demonstrates advance knowledge and practice of aseptic and surgical techniques.
