Job Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) is a vital member of the healthcare team responsible for providing clinical and administrative support in a medical setting. The MA works under the direction of licensed healthcare providers to ensure efficient and effective patient care and smooth office operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:


Clinical Duties:

  • Prepare patients for examination (vital signs, weight, medical history)
  • Assist with examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries
  • Administer medications and immunizations as directed
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and phlebotomy
  • Collect and prepare specimens for lab testing
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments
  • Maintain examination rooms, supplies, and equipment

Administrative Duties:

  • Schedule patient appointments and manage calendars
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and direct calls
  • Greet and check-in patients; verify insurance and demographic information
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EHR system
  • Handle billing and coding for insurance claims (if applicable)
Requirements:
  • Bilingual - Spanish Required
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant program (CMA, RMA, CCMA, etc.)
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred or required
  • Previous clinical experience preferred in a high volume clinic
