Job description

Build Your Future at DTCC
As an Infrastructure Engineer Intern in IT, you will help engineer, support, and enhance the core technology platforms that power DTCC's critical business applications and services across distributed systems, mainframe, network, private cloud, and public cloud environments. Your work may support operational resilience, platform stability, infrastructure automation, cloud adoption, production readiness, and technology modernization initiatives while giving you practical exposure to enterprise infrastructure engineering, systems administration, observability, resiliency testing, change and release practices, and the technology operations required to support financial market infrastructure.
At DTCC, interns contribute to meaningful work while learning how the financial markets operate behind the scenes. You will be part of a structured summer experience that combines team-based project work, training, feedback, mentorship, and opportunities to connect with leaders and peers.
About the Summer Internship Program
The Summer Internship Program is a 10-week experience designed to build a strong foundation for early-career talent. The program includes orientation, training, manager engagement, feedback milestones, networking, and development experiences that help students explore potential full-time career paths, including EDGE, our entry-level development program, where applicable.
What you will gain
  • Hands-on work connected to real business priorities, not only observation or administrative tasks.

  • Structured orientation and training to help you understand DTCC, the industry, and your business area.

  • Manager support, mentorship, peer connection, and opportunities to build your network.

  • Development experiences focused on communication, feedback, professional skills, and career readiness.

  • Mid-point and final feedback to help you understand your strengths, development areas, and potential next steps.

  • Exposure to DTCC culture, values, and community engagement.

What you will do
Role Responsibilities
  • Assist in the engineering, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise infrastructure platforms across distributed, mainframe, networking, database, private cloud, and public cloud services.

  • Support automation, monitoring, observability, and reliability initiatives that improve platform stability, operational efficiency, scalability, resiliency, and secure delivery.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineers, application teams, operations teams, architecture, cybersecurity, and other cross-functional stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, validate solutions, and support technology delivery.

  • Participate in research, testing, performance analysis, capacity review, resiliency validation, documentation, reporting, and production readiness activities related to infrastructure services and platform capabilities.

  • Contribute to infrastructure modernization efforts, including cloud adoption, infrastructure as code, lifecycle management, standard build patterns, operational process improvement, and reduction of manual work.

  • Learn how infrastructure changes are governed, tested, released, and supported in a highly regulated environment where availability, security, resilience, and disciplined execution are essential.

What will help you succeed
Required
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Cloud Computing, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Expected graduation date: May 2028

  • Minimum GPA: 3.2
  • Authorization to work permanently in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

  • Foundational understanding of computer systems, networking, operating systems, cloud concepts, scripting, or application/infrastructure support through coursework, projects, labs, prior work experience, or self-directed learning.

Preferred
  • Coursework, projects, prior work, internship, student organization, volunteer, or leadership experience related to infrastructure engineering, cloud platforms, systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, DevOps, database technologies, mainframe, or technology operations.

  • Interest in financial services technology, operational resilience, cloud modernization, infrastructure automation, risk management, production stability, and supporting systems that are critical to market operations.

  • Exposure to one or more relevant tools, platforms, or concepts such as Linux, Windows Server, Python, PowerShell, Bash, SQL, Git, CI/CD, public cloud services such as AWS or Azure, virtualization, containers, networking fundamentals, monitoring tools, infrastructure as code, or ServiceNow.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze technical issues, document findings clearly, communicate risks or blockers, and follow through on assigned work.

  • Interest in learning how enterprise infrastructure is designed, governed, tested, secured, released, monitored, and continuously improved in a large-scale IT organization.

What makes you successful
  • Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to ask questions.

  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.

  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail.

  • Ability to use feedback and adapt as you learn.

  • Collaboration, professionalism, and accountability.

Benefits and work model
  • Competitive hourly compensation.

  • Hybrid work model: 3 days in office and 2 days remote, based on team schedule.
