Job description

Job Summary

Responsible for the daily repair, maintenance, rebuilding, and modification of progressive dies and tooling to ensure reliable and efficient production operations. This position requires strong tool room skills, the ability to troubleshoot press and die issues, and proficiency in machining, fitting, assembly, and die maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, repair, maintain, and rebuild progressive dies according to design requirements.
  • Modify existing tooling to meet customer changes and production requirements.
  • Sharpen, repair, and maintain progressive dies and related tooling.
  • Troubleshoot press and die problems and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform die and tooling changeovers for multiple-part tooling.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD drawings.
  • Machine die components as required using appropriate tool room equipment.
  • Set up die components and tooling for production and repair activities.
  • Set up and operate machine tools, including drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
  • Fit and assemble tools and dies, ensuring proper dimensions, smooth operation, and accurate contours.
  • Conduct test runs of completed or repaired tools and dies to verify functionality and quality.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, including calipers and micrometers, to inspect components and tooling.
  • Follow all company safety rules, policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Knowledge and safe operation of tool room equipment and machinery.
  • Strong understanding of progressive die construction, repair, rebuild, and maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with punch press equipment and metal forming processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot tooling and press-related issues effectively.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and CAD drawings.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented, safety-conscious, dependable, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related tool and die experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • TMA Certificate or equivalent certification preferred
