About the Role: We are seeking a highly experienced Cardiovascular Sonography tutor to work one-on-one with a high-achieving adult student (3.9+ GPA) enrolled in a Cardiac Sonography program. The student is dedicated and academically strong, but lacks a prior medical background and requires targeted support to translate complex clinical concepts, master ultrasound techniques, and build hand dexterity for machine operation.

The student is preparing for weekly Thursday exams as well as final certification (written and practicum). The ideal candidate will provide structured, highly encouraging guidance tailored for a learner with neurodiverse needs (Autism, SLD, Anxiety) and coordinate constructively within a supportive family dynamic.

Details:

  • Location: Peoria, AZ 85383
  • Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays after 5:00 PM (with flexibility for Sundays)
  • Hours: 20 hours total; 1.5 hours per session (number of sessions per week can be discussed with the family)
  • Subjects: Test Prep for Sonographers (Cardiovascular Sonographers/Technologists โ€“ Adult)

Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide individualized instruction in general academic assistance, functional academics, and executive Provide individualized 1:1 instruction and test prep for Cardiovascular Sonography curriculum to prepare for weekly Thursday exams and final certifications
    • Target instruction around medical terminology, anatomy, ultrasound techniques, and practical machine operation
    • Coach the student on building spatial awareness and hand dexterity required for probe and ultrasound equipment operation
    • Adapt lessons and communication styles to support neurodiverse learning needs (Autism, Specific Learning Disability, Anxiety)
    • Utilize structured, encouraging, and patient instructional strategies to boost confidence and retention
    • Collaborate constructively with the student's supportive family to ensure aligned goals and consistent progress
    • Monitor academic progress and adjust test-prep strategies for both written and practicum evaluations

Qualifications:

    • Experience in Cardiovascular Sonographer/Technologist Test Prep OR background/experience with the AHF Cardiac & Vascular Ultrasound Program
    • Strong clinical background in adult cardiac and vascular ultrasound
    • Demonstrated ability to break down complex medical terminology and hands-on clinical skills for non-medical backgrounds
    • Experience or comfort working with adult learners with neurodiverse needs (Autism, SLD, Anxiety)
    • Patient, observant, highly encouraging, and flexible approach to teaching
    • Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with a supportive family system
    • Open to an evening and weekend tutoring schedule
