Test Engineer
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data for enterprise applications and systems.
  • Perform functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Validate software functionality against business, technical, and security requirements.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, systems engineers, and stakeholders to identify and resolve software defects and performance issues.
  • Support all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design reviews, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and scripts to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Track, document, and manage software defects through resolution and closure.
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify recurring issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support testing and validation activities for cloud-hosted environments, including AWS EC2-based systems and services.
  • Verify successful implementation of operating system, application, and security patches through testing and validation procedures.
  • Support LDAP server testing activities, including authentication, authorization, user access validation, and directory synchronization testing.
  • Validate system integrations between applications, databases, APIs, identity management systems, and enterprise platforms.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of test environments, test datasets, and configuration baselines.
  • Develop testing reports, metrics, dashboards, and status updates for project stakeholders and leadership.
  • Support cybersecurity and compliance testing activities to ensure system security requirements are properly implemented.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in code reviews and design reviews to identify quality and testability concerns early in the development process.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, testing procedures, validation reports, and quality assurance artifacts.
  • Support production deployments and post-release verification activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on software quality, testing effectiveness, automation, and customer satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of software development, software testing, quality assurance, or related experience.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, test scripts, and defect management processes.
  • Experience supporting enterprise software applications and system testing activities.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) methodologies.
  • Experience with manual and automated testing tools and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with AWS environments, including EC2 instances and cloud-hosted applications.
  • Experience validating operating system, middleware, and application patching activities.
  • Experience supporting or testing LDAP directory services, authentication services, and access management solutions.
  • Knowledge of web applications, APIs, databases, and software integration testing methodologies.
  • Experience using defect tracking and project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional technical environment.
  • U.S. Citizen and ability to get the clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and/or Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) programs.
  • Experience testing applications supporting cybersecurity, risk management, compliance, or mission-support operations.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, JUnit, TestNG, Cypress, or equivalent tools.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Experience supporting AWS cloud environments, containerized applications, and infrastructure automation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of LDAP, Active Directory, Identity and Access Management (IAM), and Single Sign-On (SSO) technologies.
  • Familiarity with Federal cybersecurity standards including FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, RMF, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Experience supporting application modernization, digital transformation, or service enablement initiatives.
  • Relevant certifications such as ISTQB Certified Tester, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Security+, Certified Agile Tester, or equivalent certifications.
