Position: Network Test Automation Engineer
Work Location: Foster City, CA 94404
Duration: Long term role
 
Job Description:
build and maintain automation frameworks that validate Ethernet-connected sensor networks on our AV platform. partner with Systems, Integration, Software, and Sensor engineers to deliver scalable network validation solutions.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain Python-based test automation frameworks for Ethernet compliance, integration, and performance validation
  • Develop PCAP/TCPdump tooling and fault injection scripts to validate ARP, ICMP, FCS, link-loss, and failure recovery test cases
  • Configure and manage VLAN-segmented (802.1Q) topologies across bench and HIL test setups, including power supplies, DAQ systems, and relay controls
  • Validate interoperability between network switches and sensors; ensure compliance with security and PPAP standards for Ethernet ECUs
  • Own technical documentation for frameworks, test methodologies, and system configurations
Qualifications:
  • BS/MS in CS, EE, or related field; 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of OSI model, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, SNMP, and VLAN (802.1Q) configuration
  • Advanced Python and Bash scripting with proven test automation framework experience (e.g., PyTest)
  • Proficiency with network diagnostic tools: Wireshark, iPerf, TCPdump, traceroute, ethtool
  • Solid CI/CD and DevOps experience; ability to debug across the full OSI stack.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • DoIP and UDS over IP (highly preferred)
  • Automotive Ethernet standards: 100BASE-T1, BroadR-Reach, H-MTD/FAKRA connectors
  • Time sync protocols: IEEE 1588v2/PTP, 802.1AS in bench/air-gapped environments
  • Advanced Linux networking and HIL infrastructure experience (DAQ, relay-controlled power rails)
