Overview

Company Customer Support team is seeking an experienced Stress Analysis Engineer to join our team in Seal Beach, California. The engineer will be responsible for the substantiation of various interiors and system aircraft commodities using classical, empirical, and finite element analysis (FEA) methods. The stress analyst must also effectively communicate technical requirements, analysis and findings to engineers, leads, and managers.

This position requires flexibility to support a fleet operating 24/7/365. Occasional offโ€‘shift work may be necessary to respond to emergent issues.

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform and document structural analysis of various aircraft interior and systems commodities
  • Understand and demonstrate compliance with applicable FAA and EASA regulations and requirements for certification
  • Create and validate finite element models from 3D CAD models, with appropriate modeling assumptions, and carry out the analysis of composite panels, inserts, metal brackets, fittings, tabs and slots, and adhesive joints
  • Substantiate appropriate structures through classical hand analysis
  • Determine and predict potential failure modes for analysis
  • Coordinate and consult with other teams such as design, load allowable groups, and interfacing commodity teams to support the creation, development, and proper analysis of structural designs
  • Review drawings of parts and assemblies to show substantiation through test, analysis, or similarity methods

6+ months โ€” possible extension and potential FTE opportunity.

Requirements What youโ€™ll need
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience using linear and nonlinear statics finite element analysis
  • Experience with efficient load paths and structural behavior
  • Experience with statics and structural analysis using classical, empirical and finite element methods
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or aerospace engineering
  • Experience with FEA preโ€‘ and postโ€‘processing tools such as HyperMesh, HyperView, NASTRAN, and PATRAN
  • Experience with durability, failโ€‘safe, and damage tolerance fundamentals
  • Experience with compliance to FAA and EASA regulations
  • 4+ years of experience working with 3D CAD models and engineering drawings

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years of related work experience (e.g., PhD, masterโ€™s + 3 years of related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
