About the Team - Energy Storage Supply Chain (ESS SCM)

The Energy Storage System Supply Chain Team leads sourcing, supplier development, and qualification of outsourced components and assemblies for Peak Energy's Battery ESS Products. The team is accountable for the technical and commercial performance of our ESS supply chain, driving quality, cost, and delivery outcomes across a complex global supplier base.  

About The Role - Supplier Industrialization Engineering Intern 

As an SIE Intern, you will be responsible for working with Suppliers, Peak Energy Global Supply Managementand Design Engineering Teams on development and qualification of outsourced parts at suppliers. The SIE Intern will operate as an individual contributor and will have an opportunity to work on high impact projects as Peak Energy continues to scale our Cell and ESS product offerings.  

The Supplier Industrialization Engineering Intern will report to the Senior Manager, ESS Industrialization & Global Supply.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Lead and participate in discussions on DfX (Design for X) with internal and external stakeholders for outsourced parts and assemblies. 
  • Facilitate communication and clarification of the product specification package for parts and assemblies between the supplier and Peak Energy to ensure that the supplier is set up for success. 
  • Manage the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and systems to ensure the supplier complies with all the requirements of the Peak Part Approval Process (PAP). 
  • Assist the supplier with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) Implementation to ensure quality issues are investigated thoroughly, and necessary actions are taken to prevent the recurrence of the issue. 
  • Identify and drive process improvement projects at suppliers to improve quality, cost, and delivery metrics. 
  • Help the Peak Energy GSM Team identify potential suppliers and assess suppliers through qualification assessments and performance reviews. 

What You'll Bring (Qualifications)

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD Software (CATIA preferred) 
  • Ability to read Engineering Drawings, with a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing 
  • Understanding of traditional & non-traditional manufacturing processes (Machining, Injection Molding, Sheet Metal Stamping, 3D Printing, PCBA Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electromechanical Assembly, Wire Harness Assembly, etc.) 
  • Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) & Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) 
  • Understanding of Problem-Solving Frameworks (8D, A3, Pareto Analysis, etc.) & RCA/ CAPA Techniques used within these frameworks 
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment that is highly cross-functional and in a constant state of evolution 
  • Be a student pursuing graduate/ undergraduate studies in one of the following concentrations: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Mathematics AND have experience designing products or manufacturing processes through 1+ internship(s), or full-time work in one of the following fields: New Product Introduction, Project/ Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality/ Industrialization, Metrology, Industrial Engineering, or Strategic Sourcing.
