  • Manage supplier selection, oversight, and technical integration, and conduct root-cause analysis to resolve test failures.

Job description

What is JetZero?

Today's aircraft contribute around 4% of global CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions of 200 million cars. This is only going to increase: Air travel is forecasted to double by 2050, while meaningful efficiency gains using current airplanes have hit a wall.

JetZero is developing a blended wing body (BWB) aircraft. It uses 50% less fuel and can accommodate zero-emission hydrogen propulsion. JetZero is the inevitable solution to sustainable air travel.

The JetZero teamย

We are experienced aerospace professionals and engineers, excited about the future. That future will only be possible if we share our vision and what it means to people's lives: carbon-free flight that is better for both passengers and carriers.

We are seeking a Lead Electrical Power Systems Engineer to own the design, development, and certification of the Electrical Power Generation and Distribution System (EPGS) for our aircraft. This role is responsible for end-to-end system architecture, supplier integration, and verification from concept through flight test, with a focus in the near term on the demonstrator experimental aircraft.

JetZero is a place for people who are ambitious, talented, and humble. This role is based in Long Beach, CA reporting to the Demonstrator systems team.

Responsibilities for this role include:ย

  • ย Lead the architecture and design of electrical power generation and distribution systems (AC/DC, high-voltage or hybrid architectures)
  • Define system requirements, interfaces, and validation strategies
  • Own certification compliance for Part 25 electrical systems (including Subpart H, EWIS, lightning/HIRF)
  • Lead system integration, ground test, and flight test activities
  • Develop and review technical documentation including specifications, SOWs, and design descriptions
  • Manage supplier selection, oversight, and technical integration
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and resolve test failures
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 10+ of experience in electrical power design for Part 25 aircraft
  • Experience with supplier oversight
  • Ability to analyze technical data, troubleshoot test failures, and drive root-cause investigations, and document results clearly
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats, intellectual curiosity, and good cross-functional versatility
  • Experience with Part 25 certification programs
  • Strong background in electrical power generation, storage, and distribution
  • ย Experience with system integration and testing
  • ย Ability to lead cross-functional technical efforts

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of DO-160, DO-254, ARP4754A, ARP4761

Compensation:ย

Our compensation package is a blend of base salary and equity options for eligible employees. The range for this role is $195,000 to $240,000. We consider a number of factors when presenting a final offer, including geography, internal equity and years of experience and expertise. ย

Benefitsย
  • Unlimited PTOย
  • 10 paid holidaysย
  • 401(k)ย
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insuranceย
