Job description

Job Summary:
Tesla is a leading company focused on ensuring reliability in Li-ion cells through its specialized Cell Quality Team. They are seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain software systems and automation tools that support cell quality workflows and data integrity, enabling efficient testing and failure analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Own the design, development, and optimization of scalable data infrastructure and ETL pipelines to process large-scale analytical data efficiently
• Build and maintain internal applications for data entry, analysis, and reporting—prioritizing user experience, performance, and adaptability
• Design and implement data validation, auditing, and state-tracking systems to ensure accuracy and reliability in cell testing processes
• Build CI/CD workflows, intelligent indexing systems, and automation tools that increase testing throughput and data accessibility
• Partner closely with technicians and engineers to translate complex testing requirements into intuitive, scalable technical solutions, and provide continuous user support
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, relevant STEM disciplines, or equivalent experience
• Proven experience designing and building tools with Python and SQL in large scale/production environments
• Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript for building efficient and responsive user-facing tools
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration
• Exceptional organizational skills and outstanding written and verbal communication abilities – able to bridge technical and non-technical audiences to resolve issues and improve user experience
• Strong ownership mindset, meticulous attention to detail, and a genuine desire to deeply understand systems and processes
