Duties
Help
As a SECURITY SPECIALIST at the GS-0080-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:

• Serve as the Command Physical Security (PHYSEC) Officer.
• Serve as the JECC's Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Officer and principle expert on all matters relating to AT/FP programs and operations within the JECC clamancy.
• Serve as the Command Industrial Security Officer (INDSEC) and administers the INDSEC program for the command.
• Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
• Serves as the Command Information Security (INFOSEC) Officer and Command Operational Security (OPSEC) Officer.

• This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
• This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions
• Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years
• This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:

• Planning, Executing, Reviewing, Scheduling, Coordinating, and Controlling assigned Physical Security activities and programs throughout an agency.
• Developing new procedures, instruction, and updates for command-wide policy and programs in response to emerging technology developments and expanded security requirements.
• Planning, executing, coordinating, and controlling assigned Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection activities and programs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification.
The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or FJO being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
