Job description

About the Company: Repauno Port and Rail Terminal, a Fortress Transportation and Infrastructure company (FTAI – NYSE), is a state-of-the-art LPG export facility located in Gibbstown, New Jersey. Job Overview:

There is currently a need for Four (4) Operations Shift Supervisors, at the Repauno Port and Rail Terminal in Gibbstown, NJ. These are full-time, Non-Exempt positions, and work hours are primarily a 12hr shift rotation, with some overtime required.  Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and requirements in order to be considered. This position will report to the Operations Manager. 

 

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and controlling the remote operation of the train, truck, dock, cavern, cryo tank loading and offloading systems, including vaporization/compression system(s), performing emergency corrective actions, as required. 
  • Ensure compliance with operating limits, Federal and State regulations and permits, standards, procedures and codes.
  • Maintaining appropriate records and documents and submit reports as required.
  • Working effectively in a team environment to monitor, log, resolve and escalate operation and safety issues.
  • Maintaining the work area in a clean and orderly condition and following prescribed safety regulations. 
  • As a member of a busy team, actively assist with additional projects as required or requested by Managers. 
  • Cultivate a strong Safety Culture
    • Complete mandatory training and EHS leadership engagements.
    • Assist in implementing Emergency Response process for EHS support.
    • Work with field operations teams to ensure safety and environmental concerns are addressed
  • Data Management/Business Tools
    • Monitor transmitters, safety devices and field equipment. Provide real time feedback and diagnostics to field personnel.
    • Perform data validation, analysis, and reporting for the operations team. Ensure that data integrity is high to provide a firm basis for decision making.
    • Serve as a central point of contact and information center for Operations personnel and field related activity.
    • Manage automated reports needed by management; identify and develop additional tools and reports, as needed. Monitor TMS programs and order management. 
    • Provide routine reporting in online Dakota EHS Management System
  • Collaboration
    • Drive engagement with other business groups to ensure strong working relationships.
    • Interact and share ideas with operations and scheduling teams to drive efficiencies and reduce operation costs.
    • Communicate often with field / control room / dock operators, maintenance group, logistics group, and rail teams to confirm each group is working together to perform safe and reliable operations.
    • Provide training to various personnel on the tools utilized in the Control Room.
    • Actively collaborate and foster relationships with other Control Room operators on all shifts.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

  • Co-ordinate, direct and train the professional development of shift operators, mentor subordinates through exchange of knowledge to improve shift continuity.
  • Proactively manage employee relations by promoting a positive work environment through open and regular communication. Thereby providing employees appropriate guidance, addressing concerns/issues, and conveying adherence to and support of company policies and practices as described in the Employee Handbook.
  • Continually demonstrate exceptional communication and team building skills.
  • Own what happens on your shift:
      • “Always leave it better than you found it”
      • Quality Control for operator deliverables on shift (i.e., Environmental inspections, rounds sheets, shift log and turnover, etc.) – stays over and holds operators over or coaches them when things are missed.
      • Ensure work orders are written, and equipment conditions are communicated to the day operations and maintenance teams.

  • The job holder must control and monitor employee attendance to minimize overtime and meet the budget requirements.

Job Requirements/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age, and legally authorized to work in United States.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must possess, or can obtain, a valid TWIC card within 30 days.
  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) as well as required overtime.
  • Minimum 5 years Supervisory experience in a chemical/petrochemical environment is preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of Process Safety Management
  • Exhibits leadership capabilities in conjunction with good managerial skills
  • Self-motivated.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required. Must be able to communicate at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to execute in an environment with competing priorities.
  • Ability to leverage technology and guide process and systems discussions.
  • Ability to make well informed decisions in a fast- paced work environment.
  • Ability to communicate in a positive, respectful and effective manner to both field and office personnel regarding the technical and business- related needs.

 

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to wear required PPE.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather.
  • Ability to climb storage tanks up to 80’ in height.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, stoop and squat.
  • Ability to sit and use a computer for long periods of time.
