Job Summary


The KeySteel Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining welded mesh and drawing machines used to produce KeySteel products that meet quality, safety and production standards. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to company procedures while maintaining a safe working environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate various KeySteel machines according to production specifications.
  • Operate automated equipment to produce wire mesh panels, and/or rolls.
  • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Monitor wire production process to ensure proper diameter, tensile strength, and surface finish.
  • Measure finished products using micrometers, tape measures to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Load wire rod coils, bundles and materials into the machine as required.
  • Manage continuous raw material feed into the production equipment.
  • Apply proper lubrication at cooling systems during operations.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues such as wire breaks, surface defects, or inconsistent sizing.
  • Record production data including quantities, output, scrap, downtime, and quality checks.
  • Follow all safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Coordinate with other machine operators to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing or machine operation ( wire mesh or wire drawing machines or similar industrial equipment preferred).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read production orders and technical specifications is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to noise, moving machinery, lubricants, and metal materials.
  • Required use of PPE includes safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
