SUMMARY:
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is actively seeking a dynamic faculty member with a focus on Pharmacokinetics/Biopharmaceutics. This faculty position in Pharmacokinetics balances local campus interests with program imperatives and the needs of the discipline while maintaining ongoing scholarly activities. The position reports to the Chair, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
  1. Provide didactic, laboratory, and small group teaching as well
  2. Serve as a mentor, advocate, and adviser to students and peer faculty members to guide their scholarly development and career aspirations.
  3. Conduct scholarly activities within the department, school, and university.
  4. Provide input to management when requested for: planning, budget, personnel resource allocation, program development, and implementation for the department.
  5. Review and recommend modifications to the Department's goals and objectives annually, aligning them with the Missions and Strategic Plan of South University and the School of Pharmacy.
  6. Prepare reports and other documents as requested by the administration.
  7. Assure assigned courses are appropriately updated for catalog narrative, course criteria, and descriptions for the department's contributions to the annual university catalog update are complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner.
  8. Assure a positive, cooperative relationship between the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the school and university staff and faculty at all School of Pharmacy campuses.
  9. Assist in recruitment and retention of quality faculty and students for all of the School of Pharmacy campuses.
  10. In concert with the Department Chair and other School administrators, provide orientation for faculty and staff within the department.
  11. Design and provide developmental activities for faculty and staff.
  12. Perform annual peer faculty teaching evaluations.
  13. Actively promote professionalism and commitment to the profession of pharmacy.
  14. Attend school and university functions where the presence of faculty and staff is required.
  15. Attend conferences, seminars, and conventions that are beneficial to the School of Pharmacy and its students.
  16. Actively and professionally promote the School of Pharmacy and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences to the public.
  17. Serve as an advocate and leader for pharmacy in local, state, and national pharmacy affairs, appropriately representing the image and
  18. Serve as assigned on South University or School of Pharmacy Committees as assigned.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Departmental Chair

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Knowledge:
  1. PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a professional focus in Pharmacokinetics.
  2. Post-Doctoral experience in Pharmacokinetics or a related field is required
  3. Prior teaching experience in the relevant field is required.
  4. Membership in a professional association tied to the area of instruction, preferred.

Skills:
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations.
  2. Outstanding conflict resolution skills
  3. Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills.
  4. Computer-based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills).

Abilities:
  1. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accreditation criteria, state agency regulations, and academic journals.
  2. Ability to resolve inquiries and complaints from students, regulatory agencies, and members of the academic or Pharmacy community
  3. Ability to effectively present information to faculty, academic and campus leaders, corporate leaders, and public groups.
