Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Engineer (Temporary: 3+ Months)Department: Engineering

Reports To: Chief Engineer/Asst. Hotel Manager


SUMMARY:

Is responsible for performing general repairs in and around hotel as needed by carrying out certain projects, maintenance of equipment and ensuring the hotel is a safe place for guests and associates.

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time and for any reasons.

Requirements: Must hold a valid Refrigeration (A/C) Certification, have relevant technical experience, and be able to commit to a temporary term of 3 months or more.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Performs necessary routine and basic maintenance work to all equipment, guestrooms, offices, kitchen, outlets, banquet and other areas in the hotel.
  • Uses various hand tools, such as hammers, pliers, saws, chisels, screwdriver, and other specialty tools.
  • Has a good working knowledge of basic plumbing, basic electrical, basic carpentry, air conditioning, appliances, etc
  • Must follow all safety requirements as it relates do OSHA and the proper use of tools when performing work
  • Maintain working areas organized, proper signage and always aware of the surrounding working area.
  • Must pick up all debris when completing work assignment to avoid leaving the area that may cause injuries to themselves and/or others
  • Ensures that all safety systems are operable
  • Responds to calls from guests and other department when maintenance issues occur
  • Interact with guests and associates in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must greet each guests with proper salutation.
  • Report all faulty equipment that requires outside repairs immediately to Supervisor.
  • Ensure to stay informed of all SDS changes and follow proper guidelines
  • Must be able to work closely with Room’s departments to ensure guest satisfaction

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year of previous experience or equivalent combination of experience and education that involves certifications and licenses preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, assignments and maintenance instructions. Ability to communicate in English at all levels and must have a better than average ability to write routine reports.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems and situations that may present while repairing or maintaining guestrooms. Ability to easily and frequently change from one activity to another.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a colleague to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing duties of this job, the colleague is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; bend, kneel, stoop and squat . The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, depth perception. Color vision and peripheral vision.
