Title: Workday Payroll, Time Tracking & Absence Consultant
Location: Onsite at Deerfield, IL
Duration: 3 Months (Possibility of extension – no)
 
Open to remote, hybrid, or on-site (preferably Greater Chicagoland area)
 
Hours/Flexibility: Must coordinate with offshore IT partners (availability until 11–12 PM CST); requires flexibility for collaboration and live troubleshooting.
 
Description:
The role focuses on reviewing, validating, and closing these tickets by identifying valid concerns, conducting unit testing, and partnering with IT.
 
Core Responsibilities:
Review existing Workday implementation tickets for payroll, absence, scheduling, and time tracking.
Validate reported issues, determine if resolved post-go-live, and recommend ticket closures.
Perform unit testing in lower Workday environments (Sandbox & Client 5 UAT).
Collaborate with IT to troubleshoot, verify fixes, and confirm changes before migration to production.
Prepare test documentation with screenshots, test cases, and results.
Coordinate with internal functional and IT partners for issue resolution and system validation.
Assist in year-end change requests, including rates, limits, and eligibility updates.

Desired Skill Set
Strong understanding of Workday functional testing (not IT configuration).
Ability to analyze and validate payroll accruals, PTO, and safe/sick leave policies (example: Minnesota law change).
Capability to independently identify issues and suggest functional resolutions.
Excellent communication and coordination with cross-functional and offshore teams.
Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and communicate findings clearly.

Essential Requirements:
• 3+ years’ experience implementing Workday Time Tracking and Absence configurations for large organizations; manufacturing preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in gathering requirements, designing, prototyping, and testing of Workday Time Tracking and Absence through to Payroll.
• 3+ years of proven ability in building and maintaining Workday Reporting & Analytics
• Knowledge of Scheduling and Attendance Tracking with its complexity
• Deep understanding of Absence Plans, Time Entry Templates, Time Calculations, Time Entry Codes, Eligibility Rules, Accrual Calculations, Business Processes, Custom Reports, Calculated Fields, and EIBs
• Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral
• The ability to interact and collaborate effectively across internal and external cross-functional teams in a positive manner that generates confidence and trust.
Education and/or Experience:
• Workday Time Tracking & Absence certification preferred qualification for the role
• Bilingual helpful but not necessary
 
Other Notes:
Candidate can come from HR functional or Workday analyst background, as long as they are strong in time tracking and payroll modules.
HCM-only background (core HR) may not be sufficient unless they have hands-on experience with time, absence, and payroll.
Workday release familiarity (especially new feature adoption from Workday 2025) is a plus.
 
Interview process:
2 rounds- 1st with Hiring Manager and then 2nd with the Team
