Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for processing and closing first mortgage loan applications from initial application through loan closing. The Mortgage Loan Processor works closely with members, realtors, sellers, and internal teams to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant loan processing.

Key ResponsibilitiesMember & Loan Processing Support (Approximately 50%)
  • Interview and counsel members in person and over the phone regarding mortgage loan products and financing options.
  • Take first mortgage loan applications through face-to-face interaction, telephone, mail, and electronic channels.
  • Review loan applications received through the Automated Underwriting System (AUS) for completeness and accuracy.
  • Analyze underwriting findings and determine required loan conditions and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate loan conditions and documentation requirements to members.
  • Prepare required federal and state loan disclosures, including Truth-in-Lending and Good Faith Estimate documents.
  • Obtain and verify employment, income, asset, and credit documentation.
  • Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with lending guidelines.
  • Clear loan conditions and certify documentation meets investor and company requirements.
  • Review property appraisals and ensure compliance with investor and organizational guidelines.
  • Maintain regular communication with members, real estate agents, and sellers regarding loan status.
  • Ensure all mortgage processing activities comply with applicable federal regulations, NCUA requirements, investor standards, and company policies.
  • Serve as a backup counselor for the Call Center when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Coursework in mortgage lending, finance, business, or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of credit union operations, products, and services.
  • Experience using mortgage and underwriting systems, including:
    • Unifi (Mortgage Processing System)
    • AUS (Automated Underwriting System)
    • UAD
Additional Hiring Manager Notes
  • This position focuses primarily on mortgage processing and document review.
  • Candidates should be comfortable interpreting loan documentation and financial records.
  • Limited but regular customer interaction is required; strong communication skills are important.
  • Experience processing loans across multiple states is strongly preferred.
  • Most loans processed are FHA and Conventional loan products.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.44 - $18.44/hr.
