TELAMON|TRC COMMITMENT TO TRAUMAINFORMED CARE:
Telamon|TRC has taken steps to shift ourorganization into a Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) model. This changes ourperceptions about the individuals that we work with, employees and customers,including families and children. A trauma-informed system of care providesservices that empower employees and customers, including families and children,to feel safe, welcomed and engaged at all levels of organizational interaction.Exchanges that could be potentially retraumatizing, or trigger traumaticreactions require thoughtfulness and non-judgement. Ongoing, as anorganization, we collaborate to educate employees about the effects ofviolence, victimization and trauma on individuals. This model supports aculture of safety for employees and customers, including families and children.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Worksin collaboration with center staff to individualize services for children withdisabilities and their families in inclusive environments. Assist in theprovision of educational support strategies to address special needs ofchildren.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists the Teacher and TeacherAssistant in implementing educational programs for each child in the classroomand on playground.
2. Ensures there is a safe andhealthy developmentally appropriate learning environment. Protects the safety of children byimplementing active supervision techniques to ensure no child is left alone orunsupervised at any time.
3. Work in coordination withmulti-disciplinary team to ensure the needs of children, families and staff aremet. Participate in case management team meetings.
4. Maintains accurate records, bothon paper and in designated on-line systems. Maintains confidentiality regardingstudents and families.
5. Review IEP/IFSP goals and otherdisability service records as appropriate and assist in planning to ensuregoals are incorporated into daily educational activities. Assist in thecoordination of services for children with disabilities with LEA's,Consultants, and other service providers.
6. Maintains confidentialityregarding students.
7. Assist center staff to recruit,identify, refer, and provide services to children with disabilities and theirfamilies.
8. Assist with the recruitment andenrollment of children with disabilities.
9. Creates ways to engage parents inthe education of their children including encouraging classroom involvement andhome activities.
10. Engages in ongoing communicationwith staff and parents about any special needs/concerns. Notifies parents of all screening andevaluation results.
11. Assists the Teacher in recordkeeping, observations, assessments, and screenings.
12. Serves as a liaison between staffand parents.
13. Works with Mental HealthConsultant to set up classroom and individual child observations.
14. Assist children in health andpersonal habits, such as eating, resting, brushing teeth, and toilet habits.
15. Assist with the mobilization anddocumentation of matching/in-kind funds.
16. Fills in on a temporary basiswhen a staff member needs to leave the classroom for a short duration.
17. Participates in staff meetingsand training sessions.
18. Works in cooperation withsupervisor to develop and document progress on professional development plan.Actively engages in professional development activities to increasequalifications in accordance with Corporation's Core Values.
19. Work may require the flexibilityto stay until all children have left the program.
20. Perform all other duties asassigned.
SAFETY DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensuringa secure workplace is a collective effort. All employees are responsible foradhering to established safe work practices and completing all mandatory safetytraining by the assigned due date.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no direct supervisory duties.
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and ExperienceRequirements:
JobCode 247 / Grade E2A
• ChildDevelopment Associate (CDA) credential in assigned age group or ability toobtain the CDA within 9 months of hire is required. Experience working withyoung children is required.
Job Code 248 / Grade E2B
• Associate'sdegree (AA) or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field*, 2 yearsof experience working with preschool children is required.
Preferred:
• Bilingualability is preferred.
• Minimumof six months experience in a similar position working with children.
• Priorexperience in a clerical, food service, office or organizing role is preferred.
• Mustbe able to get certification for CPR and First Aid after hire and recertify asrequired.
*State-awarded certificate thatmeets or exceeds the requirements for an Infant/Toddler CDA credential maybesubstituted.
** Degree in a related field isdefined as an associate, baccalaureate, or advanced degree in a field otherthan child development or early childhood education that either includes or issupplemented by twelve (12) college credits in child development, earlychildhood, or equivalent coursework focusing on children birth to age five. Atleast 3 of those credits must be in an infant toddler or preschool focusedfoundations course in child development.

• Frequentexposure to adverse weather conditions. Exposure to blood, other bodily fluids,cleaning chemicals and dirt.
• Occasionalpushing of heavy cart, bending, reaching and climbing.
• Usingsharp tools for cutting and preparing food.
• Handlingcontainers of hot food.
BackgroundChecks:
• Allemployees are subject to both a pre-hire and an annual background check.Specific rules by Area of Focus will indicate whether a state or federalfingerprint background check (or both) is required and the frequency. Afingerprint background check may suffice for a regular background check.Additional background checks may be required such as the Child Abuse andNeglect State Registry, and the Sex Offender Registry.
Positionsthat Require Driving:
• Telamon|TRCemployees that are required to drive a personal vehicle for work-related dutiesare to meet the auto insurance liability requirement. The minimum limitsrequired are $100,000 each person bodily injury, $300,000 each accident bodilyinjury and $50,000 property damage. Theinsurance liability requirement covers use of an employee's personalvehicle.
• Telamon|TRCemployees that drive a company-owned/rental vehicle must maintain asatisfactory annual motor vehicle record check.
• Musthave own transportation, a valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance.
