Job description

POSITION: Evening Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Youth Service Department

LOCATION:The Rose Center- 80 Pitt Street New York,NY 10002

REPORTS TO: Program Director, Assistant Program Director, and Evening Supervisor

SALARY:$21/HR For 25hrs/wk

DATES: July 2026-August 2026

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday between the hours of 6pm-11pm; Saturday& Sunday 3pm-11pm
This position is temporary; summer position only.

JOB SUMMARY: As part of our Youth Services Department’s vision: all Youth Services Staff will assist

promoting growth, leadership and positive self-image in all young people at all of our Grand

Street Settlement sites.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required; College Degree preferred.
  • Youth development experience required.
  • Proven ability to work with teen and young adult age groups.
  • Previous experience working with diverse people.
  • Good conflict mediation and public relations skills.
  • Strong time-management skills; ability to handle simultaneous assignments/projects with a high degree of accuracy, and meet deadlines in a high pressure environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to work independently, assess priorities, and take initiatives.
  • Capacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects.
  • A team player with demonstrated commitment to working with urban youth and young adults from an

asset-based perspective.

  • Ability to set-up and maintain work environment that challenges gender stereotypes and is LGBTQIA+-
    friendly.
  • Must be flexible, cooperative and willing to work in a team environment
  • The ideal candidate is personable, energetic, & enthusiastic.
  • Candidates should successfully complete the following: NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening; New York State Clearance Review Background Check; three (3) Reference Checks; Physical with updated TB Test (fees may apply).
  • If offered the position, must submit a $25 fee for NY State Clearance Review.
  • If hired, Grand Street requires all potential employees to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and booster.
  • Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with all students while remaining professional at all times and be able to motivate the students while setting an example in all areas, including responsibility, timeliness, organization, attendance and most importantly, professionalism.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training

  • Must complete program training as requested as per school-age child care requirements.

Supervise

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to full-time and part-time program staff.
  • Problem solve and intervene directly with youth in groups.
  • Maintain adequate staff to camper supervision during all activities and trips.

Facilitate/Plan Remote Activities

  • Plan and facilitate remote activities for teens and young adults that develop their social, emotional and/or academic skills.
  • Must facilitate group management and activities on online platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with co-workers.
  • Provide resources for youth through remote engagement sessions.

Ensure Safety

  • Must be able to supervise a group of teens and young adults and participate in activities and trips; provide and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain adequate supplies in first aid and safety kits.
  • Maintain medical and contact information for each camper.
  • Responsible for maintaining a daily log of all incidents/injuries.
  • Address conflicts that have potential to undermine community cohesion and trigger violent clashes.
  • Prepare attendance reports and other reports as required.
  • Know and adhere to all regulations and procedures outlined in the safety plan.

Other

  • Refer participants and their families to relevant community resources.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork that is required.
  • Manage registration forms and process identification cards for program participants, and support in inputting of data
  • Come to ready to work with a positive attitude.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the program supervisors.
