Temporary Tcs Software Engineer information

What is a temporary TCS software engineer?

Temporary TCS Software Engineers are professionals hired by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on a contractual or temporary basis to work on software development, maintenance, or support projects. Unlike permanent employees, they are employed for a defined period, often to meet project demands or fill short-term skill gaps. Their responsibilities may include coding, testing, debugging, and collaborating with teams to deliver solutions. Temporary roles offer flexibility but may not include all the benefits and job security of permanent positions.

What are the typical responsibilities and expectations for a temporary TCS software engineer, and how does the role differ from a permanent position?

As a Temporary TCS Software Engineer, you will typically be tasked with supporting ongoing projects, contributing to software development, testing, bug fixing, and documentation within established teams. While your daily responsibilities mirror those of permanent engineers, your assignments are often more project-specific and time-bound. Temporary roles may require you to quickly adapt to new technologies and team processes, and you may be expected to deliver results within shorter timelines. While advancement opportunities may be limited due to the temporary nature of the contract, performing well can enhance your chances for future permanent roles within TCS or similar organizations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temporary TCS software engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temporary TCS Software Engineer, you generally need a degree in computer science or a related field, solid programming skills (such as Java, Python, or C++), and knowledge of software development methodologies. Familiarity with tools like Eclipse, Visual Studio, Git, and experience with enterprise software systems or cloud platforms is often required. Strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and effective teamwork are essential soft skills for excelling in dynamic project environments. These competencies ensure you can quickly contribute to complex projects, collaborate with teams, and deliver high-quality software solutions within tight deadlines.

What is the difference between Temporary Tcs Software Engineer vs Contract Tcs Software Engineer?

AspectTemporary Tcs Software EngineerContract Tcs Software Engineer
Employment TypeTemporary, short-termContract, project-based
DurationTypically weeks to monthsVaries by project, often months to a year
CredentialsRelevant degrees, certificationsSame as Temporary, often similar requirements
Work EnvironmentCompany's office or remoteClient site or remote, depending on project
EmployerHired directly or through staffing agenciesHired through staffing or consulting firms

Both roles involve short-term software development work for TCS, with similar credentials and work environments. The main difference lies in employment duration and contractual nature, with temporary roles often being shorter and more flexible, while contract roles are tied to specific projects with defined timelines.

Job description

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world's most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.

Whether you're designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger - technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we'll advance your career.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

You will join the 3rd Party Analog Mixed Signal IP Design Analysis and CAD team, which evaluates Analog Mixed Signal circuit designs from AMD external design partners, such as USB and PCIe blocks. The team ensures designs meet specifications, contractual requirements, and align with AMD's chip flows and design blocks.

We also develop tools to improve design analysis, providing insight into chip methodologies and CAD workflows. Collaborating closely with internal teams and external vendors, we identify and resolve issues before silicon manufacturing, helping AMD stay on schedule and prevent revenue loss.

As part of this tight-knit team, you'll gain exposure to a range of circuit design workflows, with strong mentorship and cross-training to foster collaboration and success. This role offers valuable experience in ASIC design, verification, and manufacturing.

THE PERSON:

AMD Mixed Signal IP Design Analysis and CAD Engineer will learn:

  • The hardware chip development lifecycle from specification to silicon manufacturing.
  • Layout vs. schematic comparison (LVS), design rule checks (DRC/ERC), and circuit topological checks of pre-silicon hardware design.
  • Best practices for schematics, layouts, and industry-standard manufacturing processes.
  • Key topics like electro-migration (EM), power supply analysis (IR), and electrostatic discharge (ESD).
  • Design for manufacturing and silicon reliability.
  • Static timing analysis (STA), SPICE simulation, and parasitic RC extraction.
  • Using EDA tools for analysis and verification at a conceptual level.
  • Revision control software and effective presentation of new workflows.
  • Develop well-structured and reusable scripts to automate the analysis of circuit data, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in data processing tasks.
  • Leveraging AI technologies to enhance data analysis and automation processes for improved efficiency and innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a highly motivated Mixed Signal Circuit Design Analysis & CAD Engineer to join our team. In this role you will be -

  • Understanding the hardware chip development lifecycle from specification to silicon manufacturing.
  • Analyzing electrical performance of Analog/Digital Mixed Signal (AMS) designs and support integration of the design implemented using deep sub-micron CMOS technology into the overall chip system/AMD product.
  • Reviewing flagged issues, analyzing the problem, and then assessing if the design issue must be fixed.
  • Developing, investigating, and enhancing scripts and test cases to automate the IP design analysis workflow.
  • Working with 3rd party IP vendors to review and discuss analysis results for design fixes and enhancements.
  • Work closely with engineers within Markham and other AMD design sites worldwide to enable solutions to these AMS designs.
  • Collaborating with AMD internal teams to cross-reference issues after design integration into the larger chip environment.
  • Use software automation to enhance IP design analysis methodologies.
  • Use industry standard physical verification analysis tools to analyze hardware design components before final integration and preparation towards chip manufacture.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Possess strong hardware and software skills.
  • An understanding of analog and digital transistor device behavior.
  • Desire to develop well-structured and maintainable scripts using scripting languages such as Python, Perl, TCL, etc.
  • Using EDA tools for analysis and verification at a conceptual level.
  • Implementing analysis automation using multiple programming/scripting languages such as C, C++ or Perl.
  • Research skills to conduct root cause analysis for software and hardware design bugs.
  • Basic experience in using command line interface with UNIX or Linux, scripting, HSPICE, Verilog or VHDL, and interest in transistor level circuits and/or layout.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
