Job description

Soluna is on a mission to solve one of renewable energy's biggest challenges: wasted power. Our data centers convert excess solar, hydro, and wind energy into productive computational work, such as Bitcoin mining, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. By co-locating with renewable power sources, we bring demand directly to the source, helping power plants increase revenue while contributing more megawatts to the grid.
We are growing fast and we need people like you who want to be part of something big.
We need entrepreneurs at heart.
We are a people-first, data-driven organization that is seeking individuals who want to do meaningful work.
What you'll do
As a Data Center Technician you will help build out, troubleshoot, maintain and operate mission-critical infrastructure at Soluna's data center. You will help operate, and maintain the network infrastructure and perform routine electrical and cooling system maintenance. This can include replacing hashboards, fans, power supplies, firmware, and software. Maintaining the equipment includes cleaning the equipment, filters and fans associated with the cooling.
This role requires both technical expertise and a relentless focus on operational excellence, uptime, and security. You will be responsible for maintaining the inventory, quality control and reporting (as applicable) of the operations as per the Standard Operating Procedures of the data center. This includes adherence to the operations security plan to maintain site security and information assurance. You will be encouraged to bring any ideas to the table for evaluation to help improve the operations through a product development process and contribute the following.
Hardware & Systems Operations
  • Install, configure, and maintain compute hardware (ASIC miners, GPU servers, networking devices, PDUs, etc.)
  • Perform component-level diagnostics and repairs (hashboard, power supply, control board, fans, etc.)
  • Execute firmware updates, system re-imaging, and configuration management

Network & Infrastructure
  • Support deployment and maintenance of local and wide-area networks, switches, firewalls, and monitoring tools
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and escalate to senior engineers as needed
Ensure compliance with Soluna's information assurance and data security protocols

Facilities & Environment
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical distribution, data center buildings, and airflow systems
  • Monitor environmental metrics (temperature, humidity, airflow, power consumption) and take corrective actions
  • Support facility commissioning, racking, structured cabling, and power distribution

Monitoring & Reporting
  • Use monitoring platforms to track hardware performance, network health, and uptime
  • Maintain inventory, asset tracking, and quality control documentation
  • Contribute to incident reports, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement processes

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work cross-functionally within operations, engineering, and customer success teams
  • Participate in developing and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Identify and propose automation, process improvements, and cost optimizations
What You'll Bring
Technical Skills
  • Hands-on experience with computer/server hardware assembly, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Knowledge of operating systems, IP networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS), and switching/routing fundamentals (preferred)
  • Experience with monitoring tools, ticketing, and inventory management systems (e.g., Grafana, Foreman, LuxOS, Braiins, Odoo)
  • Familiarity with data center power systems and electrical safety (preferred)
  • Scripting or automation skills are a plus

Professional Skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to follow detailed SOPs and contribute to documentation
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays on a "on call" shift schedule
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments

Nice-to-Have
  • Prior experience in cryptocurrency mining, HPC, or hyperscale data center operations
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+/Network+, CCNA, or DCIM-related credentials
