Job description

Position: Temporary Summer School Teacher - Grades 9-12 Multiple Positions
Posting Dates: April 16, 2026 - Until filled
Reports To: Summer School Coordinator
Beginning: June 15 - July 31, 2026 
                    Off June 29 - July 3
                 7:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
                 Monday-Friday           
                 25 hours/week






Qualifications: 

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate required.
  • High School experience preferred
  • Endorsement in related fields required. (ELA, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and/or Social Studies). Special Ed positions also available based on need. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide content area instructional support to students via individual or small group format
  • Monitor and mentor students in online courses
  • Ensure students successfully complete course requirements
  • Communicate with parents and other instructors as needed
  • Participate in required scheduled C planning sessions in May-early June 

Additional Information:

  • Paid Preparation days in May and June per needs of summer school planning team
  • Possibility to extend to 8 weeks per student need
  • Summer School begins June 15, 2026
  • Final hiring will be dependent on enrollment and scheduling needs
  • Hours and duration may vary based on scheduling needs
  • Week of June 29-July 3, no school for high school summer students
  • Schedule C payrate 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is subject to environmental conditions.
  • The worker should provide consistent and reliable in-person attendance.
